The yellow-brown beetle Anomala exoleta? Fald belongs to the order Coleoptera, the family Anomalaidae, and the genus Anomala exoleta. It is one of the main species of omphalon in China. The adult body is 15-18 mm long and 7-9 mm wide. The body is yellowish brown and shiny, and the pronotum is darker than the elytra. The pronotum is raised, with arcs on both sides, and the trailing edge is densely covered with fine yellow hairs in front of the scutellum.
It is an important underground pest. Due to different climates and soils in various places, the types of damage that occur on different grassland and lawn types are different. Generally, a mixture of multiple species often occurs in the same area. Except for Xinjiang and Tibet, which are not reported, it is distributed throughout all provinces and autonomous regions.
There is one generation per year in Hebei, Shandong and Liaoning, and they overwinter as larvae. Adults appear in early May in Hebei, and are in full bloom from late June to early July. Adults mate and lay eggs shortly after they emerge. The larval period lasts for 300 days and causes damage mainly in spring and autumn. It pupates in May and emerges as an adult in June. Adult insects lie dormant during the day and emerge at night, and are most active in the evening and have strong phototaxis. Adult insects do not feed and have a short lifespan.
