Text/The sixth day of August
During my childhood summer vacation, I was at my grandma’s house in Taopu New Village, Shanghai.
Grandma’s house is located on the fourth floor of an old factory building. The area is not big, but I thought it was so big at that time. It was so big that we naughty children could laugh and jump around like little rabbits.
It’s a hot summer day, and the world outside is sweltering and unbearable. But as long as we hide in grandma's bedroom, close the door and turn on the air conditioner, it will be our cool paradise.
I, my cousin, often like to jump from the sofa to the chair, from the chair to the table, and then from the table to the bed, repeating the cycle, and never tire of it.
In the afternoon, mats were spread out on the cement floor, and everyone sat around, watching TV and doing business. Sometimes it's a Guangming brand salt water popsicle or ice cream ice cream in each hand, licking it bit by bit; sometimes it's half a watermelon, each person has a spoonful, relishing it; sometimes it's each person a bowl of frozen mung bean and lily soup, and they drink it in big gulps. Towards the sky.
The programs on the TV stations at that time were all so good. In addition to the well-known Journey to the West, there are also many good foreign TV series and cartoons.
In the evening, cable TV channels will also broadcast Hong Kong and Taiwan TV series, martial arts movies, and daily life movies, all of which are exciting. We often catch up on the latest two episodes at night, and then watch the reruns again the next morning.
On weekends, there are also good Shanghai local variety shows, Happy Carousel, and Intelligence Surfing. They are all good programs that can be talked about after dinner.
Of course, our favorite is the great hero Ultraman. I remember that when my cousin was young, he was very fond of Ultraman. He would watch every episode without stopping. After watching it, he would draw Ultraman on paper. Then he started to really learn art as he continued to draw. He chose art during the college entrance examination. major.
Grandma loves flowers. There are always flowers blooming on her balcony.
Among the various flowers she carefully cultivated, I especially loved the mimosa. This little ugly thing will bow its head shyly as if it has done something wrong with just a touch of your hand. It's so funny.
There is also aloe vera. We often secretly pinch a piece of aloe vera leaf when grandma is not paying attention, dig out the sticky juice inside, and wipe our hands and feet. It is really interesting.
That small balcony once became a stage for our deception.
The summer nights in Shanghai at that time were not as hot as today. There were occasionally twinkling stars in the night sky, and there was often a refreshing breeze. Men, women and children all like to move stools and deck chairs and gather outside to enjoy the cool breeze. Some people fall asleep when the wind cools them down. No wonder, it's comfortable.
The same is true at grandma's house.
After dinner, both adults and children like to crowd to the balcony, blow in the air, chat, tell stories, and guess riddles.
Perhaps because of my temporary financial obsession, I discovered an opportunity to make money.
After collective discussion, we rehearsed several programs in our spare time, which were nothing more than singing and dancing, and then performed them for adults at night, and forcibly charged them a viewing fee of one yuan per person.
At that time, I thought this idea couldn’t be better. The adults actually bought it all and praised our poor performance.
Having tasted the benefits, we performed every night and made money every time. Finally, I saved more than thirty yuan.
This is the result of our hard work!
In order to protect this hard-earned money, we *** agreed to store it in a secret place. After many field visits, we finally decided to hide it in the flower bed behind the community.
So we put all the money into an iron can, dug a hole in the flower bed, and buried it in it.
Finally, we have a safe and reliable place to put the fruits of our labor. In our little hearts, our expectations are slowly growing, and we imagine that the money in the tin can can be saved more and more.
Haha, there is no need to guess the ending.
A week later, when we went to the flower bed again, the iron jar carrying Xiaozhi's hopes was missing.
At that time, my brain was severely deprived of oxygen, and I misunderstood that my cousin was stealing, which made him feel wronged and cry. Haha, the level of hypoxia is incredible.
Although I suffer from hypoxia, some ideas will always pop up in my mind from time to time, such as hoping to have a secret base.
Because the neighbor’s child has it.
Their so-called secret base is a super mini facade downstairs that has been abandoned by the adults. Once you open the rolling shutter door and sit on the glass counter, you will have the impression of dominating the mountain.
And we don’t.
But we have grandma’s house.
The small room in my grandma’s house was once our secret little space. We stayed inside, singing and telling stories into the tape recorder, having a candlelight dinner, and rehearsing the show, and we were so happy. Looking back now, our excitement level was so low at that time.
Sometimes when I feel bored, I will go for a walk outside.
Following the neighbor’s sister, I walked and walked until I reached the farmland.
At that time, there were farmlands and weeds everywhere in the Taopu area. Occasionally, you will find a few cute goats in the lush green.
We walked into the weeds, barked loudly, and when we got tired of barking, we played with the goats, fed them grass, and hugged the lambs, just like we hug puppies now.
After teasing the goat, he ran to a nearby church and played the church organ when no one was around until he was kicked out. Then I walked all the way home, bought a cicada at the gate of the community, raised it on the balcony, fed it a few edamame beans every day, and teased it with chopsticks.
Haha, it seems that I also had a naughty time when I was a child.
Of course, naughty children will not restrain their inner enthusiasm in front of delicious food.
Every summer vacation, grandma would always prepare all kinds of delicious food for us. She would call grandpa to the market to select the freshest ingredients of the season, and leave us the best treatment.
In my impression, I can see her busy all day long, busy preparing fruits and making delicious food for us.
She can make a big pot of tea eggs and eat them every day, no matter how much she eats, she never gets tired of them. The omelette, braised pork, duck with sauce, chicken soup, and winter melon and bacon soup are all great and we love them.
Every week, she forces each child to eat a steamed chicken. In fact, we don't like to eat very much and we often yell. But grandma glared, then immediately calmed down and ate it up obediently.
Grandma is really kind to us.
At that time, my grandmother was still young and in good health.
She can lift a bucket of drinking water with one hand effortlessly. Every night, I saw her carrying a big kettle to the balcony to water the flowers. After watering the flowers, I took a bottle of Liushen and sprinkled it on the wall next to our bed. According to her, this is a good way to keep away mosquitoes. Later, with the advent of air conditioning, this move was no longer possible.
She likes to cut my toenails and often laughs at my nails that are as long as razor blades. She would also accompany us to watch late foreign TV series, and then fall asleep while watching them, but she kept mumbling.
Nowadays, each of us has grown up slowly, far away from the years of summer vacation, and has embarked on the job. Some of us have even married and had children.
Grandma is also getting older. She became shaky when walking, her strength was no longer what it once was, and she even stopped cooking. And the days we stayed at grandma's house became numbered.
But we also arrange some dinner parties from time to time every year, inviting grandparents to enjoy delicious food together; sometimes we also bring some fruit health products to visit their homes; every Spring Festival, everyone will consciously wrap a red envelope, Dedicated to grandparents.
We deeply understand that our grandma was kind to us back then, and now we must repay it with filial piety.
The fragments of childhood memories are played back in front of your eyes like a movie. They are worth chewing and savoring slowly. No matter how many years have passed, no matter where I am, I will always remember those summer vacations in Taopu New Village, at my grandma’s house.
