Boluo Zhuanjing Town, at an altitude of 2,800 meters, is located at the intersection of Gansu, Qinghai and Xinjiang provinces (regions), on the alluvial plain at the foot of the Altyn Mountains, the most remote corner of Gansu Province, with almost no Sense of presence. The history of Boluo Zhuanjing is as confusing as the origin of its name. According to county records, "Boluo Zhuanjing" is a Mongolian homophone, meaning "green pier". According to folklore, a Mongolian general named Bao Luo once stationed here, and Boluo Zhuanjing is the homophone of General Bao Luo.
Once used as the county seat of Aksay County, it was abandoned due to lack of water. It is said that the content of radioactive elements uranium and thorium in the drinking water source of Boluo Zhuanjing Town exceeds the national standard by 6-8 times.
