First, the harvest time
Generally, yam is harvested from the end of 10 to1month, and its tubers can be dug up after the stems and leaves on the ground wither. Because it is deeply buried in the soil, it can also be allowed to spend the winter underground and wait until the next spring to dig it out. In addition, if it is planted in a greenhouse, the time of planting and harvesting will change, and harvesting can usually be carried out in June.
Second, how to plant
1, Selection of materials: Yam is usually propagated asexually, and the planting material is generally Reiyoshi or Lutou. Reiyoshi, also known as yam bean, is its aboveground tuber, which can generally be collected when it is harvested, but not all varieties have Reiyoshi. Reed head, also called faucet, is the part with buds at the top of its tuber, which has strong regeneration ability and short emergence time.
2. Soil preparation and fertilization: Before planting yam, you need to fertilize the ground first. At this time, the fertilizer is base fertilizer, which can provide nutrients continuously, so organic fertilizer is selected with diammonium phosphate, urea and potassium sulfate. After fertilization, turn over the soil and let the fertilizer be buried under it. After that, it is necessary to ditch. Because yam grows vertically, it is necessary to dig a loose ditch with a depth of 1 meter, which is convenient for plants to grow.
3. Planting: When the ground temperature reaches 9- 10℃, yam can be planted, usually in March-April in the south, in late April in the north and in May in the northeast. Put the prepared Reiyoshi or reed head in the ditch with a distance of 25-30cm, cover it with soil after planting, and pat it flat.
