When the water temperature is lower than 15 ℃, tilapia stop feeding, tilapia survival temperature range of 15 ~ 35 ℃, tilapia maximum critical temperature of about 40 ~ 41 ℃, the optimal growth temperature of 28 ~ 32 ℃, tilapia reproduction temperature above 20 ℃.
Tilapia inhabits in the lower and middle layers, and is an omnivorous fish with plant-based bait. Tilapia do not tolerate low temperatures and will freeze to death at water temperatures of around 10°C. Some species of tilapia exhibit mouth hatching, in which females hold fertilized eggs in their mouths until they hatch into young, a child-care behavior that is very beneficial to their reproduction.
Some species of tilapia have a strong territorial behavior in which the male digs up the subsoil and builds a pot-shaped nest before reproduction, and the female lays her eggs in the nest and then protects the young by holding them in her mouth when they hatch.

Adult fish culture
Take two forms of monoculture and mixed culture. Monoculture tilapia, in a pond with a water depth of 1 meter, each mu put 3 cm specification fish species 3000-5000, the yield can reach 300-400 kg. Mixed culture can be divided into tilapia as the main fish and domestic fish as the main and then hitchhiking tilapia in two forms.
Adult tilapia mainly feed on plankton and organic debris, so no matter whether it is single-fish or domestic fish-based mixed culture, the water quality should be fertile. Cultivate the water quality through fertilization, so that there is abundant biological bait in the water.
Apply 100-150 kg of manure or 200-300 kg of green manure per mu per week. During the feeding period, the method of regular water injection or water change is adopted to promote the photosynthesis of phytoplankton, so that the water body maintains sufficient bath oxygen, which is conducive to the growth and feeding of tilapia.
