As a Dalian native, what is the most terrible seafood you have ever eaten?

I'm not from Dalian. My aunt went to Dalian when she was a child. I have a deep affection for Dalian, and I will go there every other year. The impression is good, clean, warm and there are many people in Shandong.

One year, Uncle Biao bought a kind of fish, saying it was jumping fish. Alas, I was careful, but it was delicious. Later, I learned that the scientific name was mudskipper and the stewed tofu was delicious.

Dalian is a coastal city. Because its jurisdiction covers both the Bohai Sea and the Yellow River, Dalian is rich in products, and seafood is a gift from God to Dalian people.

There are many kinds of seafood in Dalian, such as abalone, sea cucumber and sea urchin. In addition to many varieties, Dalian belongs to the northern city. Due to the large temperature difference between the four seasons, the quality of its seafood is also very good, and the most famous one is Liaoshen.

Liaoshen is the abbreviation of Liaoning Sea Cucumber, and it is the main ingredient of the famous dish Fotiao Wall. Liaoshen mainly refers to the sea cucumber produced in Changhai County, Dalian. Due to the influence of latitude, water temperature and environment, the sea cucumber produced here is big, hard, thick and has high nutritional value. It is a good nourishing product and an indispensable ingredient for state banquets.

As a native of Dalian, I eat the sea by the sea, and I have eaten a lot of seafood since I was a child. To say that the seafood I have eaten is the most terrible and even unforgettable, there are five kinds:

First, the most terrible way to eat seafood-eating live octopus legs

Octopus, also known as "Octopus" by Dalian people, is a soft marine animal. This animal is similar to another marine animal squid with eight wrists.

when you eat seafood, you eat a fresh one. There is a layer of mucus on the surface of live octopus, which makes people feel slippery and can't even catch octopus.

one way to eat octopus is to eat its legs raw while it is alive. Octopus legs can still move even after they are broken and leave the body. When the diners bite off the octopus and put it in their mouths, the octopus legs are still moving and dancing on their tongues. Especially when one part of the octopus leg is put in the mouth and the other part is exposed out of the mouth, the head of the octopus leg still moves around the mouth, which feels like people have eaten bacteria.

this way of eating seafood alive is really scary.

2. Seafood with a terrible appearance-seaweed

Seaweed is a common seafood in Dalian, and it is usually eaten by frying. However, the appearance of this seafood is really similar to that of intestines, and it looks similar to the intestines of animals, like a tube. If it is not hollow, it looks like an earthworm, or even a snake when magnified.

Perhaps human beings have a natural fear of the elongated animals like snakes, so seafood like sea urchins is also a little scary in appearance. Of course, the taste of seaweed is still good, just like a big crab. Although it looks terrible, it is really delicious.

third, improper cooking is tasteless-sea cucumber

To be honest, the sea cucumber in Dalian is really delicious, otherwise, Liaoshen will not become the main ingredient of the Buddha jumping wall. However, if the drying and cooking techniques of sea cucumbers are improper and the cooking methods are not paid attention to, then sea cucumbers will not be so delicious.

I remember I once ate sea cucumber in a restaurant. It was quite big and the meat was quite thick. I immediately picked it up with chopsticks and ate it. However, when I ate it in my mouth, I found that it had no taste at all, just like it was soaked in boiled water. You know, seafood is just that salty taste, especially for northerners like me. Without that salty taste, it is almost impossible to swallow. So, I didn't eat a few mouthfuls of this sea cucumber and never ate it again.

Maybe it's the improper cooking method, maybe it's the light taste, or maybe there's something wrong with the hair-making process. In short, I don't like the sea cucumber being so light. I feel that it's not sea cucumber that I chew in my mouth, but latex.

Fourth, shellfish that will spoil your stomach if you don't eat well-Haihong

Haihong is also a very common shellfish seafood in Dalian. At some time, some communities in Dalian often hear "selling Haihong!" Such a cry for sale.

In fact, compared with the meat thickness of scallops and the freshness of clams, Haihong, a shellfish similar to clams and scallops, doesn't taste very good. Moreover, the most disturbing thing is that Haihong, a shellfish, grows in a slightly polluted sea area, which may be the reason why eating Haihong is the most likely to upset the stomach.

When I eat clams, scallops usually don't have any problems. However, I have eaten sea rainbow several times, and almost every time I eat sea rainbow, I have diarrhea. Therefore, I will hardly eat sea rainbow in the future.

5. Clawing but delicious crustacean seafood-crabs

There is a saying: the first person who eats crabs is great! Indeed, it's really scary to show your teeth on the surface and clamp people with big pliers with carapace. However, of course, it was only after cooking this animal that it was discovered that it was peerless delicious.

Dalian people are also very willing to eat crab, a seafood. In Dalian, the common edible crabs are flying crab, red nail and top cover fertilizer. Compared with the faint taste of river crabs, sea crabs live in the ocean and soak in the taste of the sea, and their meat has a salty flavor. Even without seasoning, the taste of sea crabs is good, especially their crab yellow and crab legs are very delicious.

Perhaps, it is this salty flavor that stimulates people's taste buds very much, or perhaps it is for this reason that I seldom eat river crabs, but basically eat sea crabs.
