The leopard is a national protected animal in China. The leopard is a national level protected animal, and the leopard refers to the Asian subspecies, so it is also a first-class protected animal. The List of Wild Animals under State Key Protection was approved by the State Council on December 10, 1988, and released on January 14, 1989 by the Ministry of Forestry and the Ministry of Agriculture. The list includes more than 330 kinds of terrestrial wildlife, of which more than 90 kinds of terrestrial wildlife are protected at the national level, including giant pandas, golden monkeys, gibbons and red cranes.

The leopard is shaped like a tiger, but smaller than a tiger, with a body length of 1-1-5 meters, a tail length of 0-75-0-85 meters, a round head, short ears, a long tail, and slightly shorter limbs. The whole body is covered with round or oval black spots, so the name "money leopard". Back, head and limbs outside and the back of the tail is white, tail tip black.
