Volleyball Playing Area Requirements

Internationally, the demarcation of playing areas must be 5 centimeters in width, of a lighter color, and of a different color than that of the ground and other sports.

2. Boundaries

The playing area is bounded by two side lines and two end lines, which are contained within the playing area.

3. Centerline

The centerline of the centerline divides the playing field area into two equal 9cm x 9cm areas. The center line connects the two sidelines, underneath the net.

4. Attack line

An attack line is drawn three centimeters back from the center line of the center line on each side of the court area. For FIVB World and official matches, five sections of extended dotted lines 15 centimeters long, 5 centimeters wide and 20 centimeters apart, with a total dotted line length of 1.75 centimeters, shall be drawn on the outside of each side line of the attack line.
