Paramilitary breasts are extra breasts that appear in the human body besides the normal pair of breasts, usually in the armpits or underarms, but also in the upper and lower parts of the normal breasts of the chest, the abdomen, the groin and other parts of the body.
Usually, the size of the breasts varies and the sensation varies from person to person, most of them do not have any special sensation, but some of them have swelling and pain before menstruation, and the swelling and pain disappears after menstruation.
The vast majority of cases show swelling or elevation in the axilla or underarm, and there may also be fully developed nipples. Lumps may be palpable within the paratesticular breasts, which are developed mammary glands. It can also occur in the upper and lower parts of the normal breast, abdomen, groin, outer thigh and other parts of the body, and in some cases, it can develop into a breast that is comparable in shape to the normal breast, including the nipple areola.
Paramilitary breasts change during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Usually during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the breasts will increase in size and even produce milk. After breastfeeding is over, the breasts do not shrink and become more visible.
The main problem with paratesticular breasts is that they affect the appearance of the body, which can affect clothing and social activities. The vast majority of patients seek treatment to improve the appearance of their breasts. The paratesticular breasts contain breast tissue and are therefore at risk of developing breast cancer.
The paratesticular breast is a congenital abnormality, which not only affects the appearance, but also has a chance of developing malignant tumors of the breast, so surgical excision is recommended. Surgery involves removal of the paratesticular breast gland, excess fat tissue and skin, followed by compression bandaging. Surgery should be performed at the earliest possible time, especially in the following cases:
1. Clearly there is a tumor or malignancy in the paratesticular breast;
2. Symptoms such as swelling and pain are obvious with the menstrual cycle;
3. The paratesticular breasts are obvious, which seriously affects the social activities and the quality of life.
