Hazelnut mushrooms grow from August to September in early fall, and are best picked the day after rain. Hazel mushrooms belong to the seed bodies of the honey ring fungus of the white mushroom family. It grows on the roots of coniferous and broad-leaved trees and can be harvested in July to August in Jilin, Hebei, Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan, Zhejiang and Yunnan.
Hazelnut mushroom is rich in a large number of calcium, phosphorus, iron and other trace elements, protein, carotene, vitamin C and other nutrients, is more than ten times the general vegetables, by some developed countries as a class of food.
