1. Variety selection

The varieties of water spinach suitable for off-season planting are Dajihuang, Daguqing and Flag Leaf.

2. Soil preparation

Choose flat, deep, fertile, loose, sunny and leeward plots to build sheds. After the construction is completed, the soil should be deeply ploughed and base fertilizer should be applied, and high-quality decomposed fertilizer and plant ash can be applied as base fertilizer per mu. It is suggested that the width should be 1m or longer, the border height should be 15-2cm, and the surface should be flat.

3. Planting method

Sow the treated water spinach seeds at a row spacing of 3-35cm, then cover them with sand with a thickness of 1-2cm, and then cover them with a plastic film to keep the temperature in the soil constant. Finally, cover the surface of the frame with a sun screen, pour in water, and then uncover the sun screen. In addition, in order to obtain higher economic benefits, the sowing date should be arranged in October-December, and it should be listed from December to March of the following year.

4. operating points

(1) temperature control: in sunny days, the film can be uncovered at 9-1 am. When uncovering the film, a small part of the film can be uncovered, ventilated and maintained at a certain temperature level. Remember to cover the film at night. If the outdoor temperature is lower than 15°C, a straw curtain should be placed on the film to keep warm.

(2) Water fertilization: During the growth period of water spinach, thin human excrement and available nitrogen fertilizer should be covered, and at the same time, the soil should be kept moist and watered 2-3 times every other week.

(3) intertillage weeding: When the film is gradually uncovered in May, we should strengthen sowing and watering to promote plant growth, and carry out intertillage weeding appropriately.

5. Timely harvest

Generally, the water spinach can be harvested 35-45 days after sowing, when it grows to 35 cm high.
