Where do mung beans grow?
Mung beans like warm and humid climate, and their origin is in India and Myanmar. At present, it is mainly distributed in East Asian countries, with a small amount of cultivation in Africa, Europe and the United States. The main producing areas in China are Yunnan, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang and Jilin.
Growing environment of mung bean
Mung beans have strong adaptability to environmental conditions and can be planted from temperate zone to tropical zone. Mung bean has strong barren tolerance and low requirements on soil, but it is suitable for growing in loam or calcareous alluvial soil, and can also grow in red soil and clay loam, and neutral soil is the most suitable.
The growth of mung beans needs to go through these processes: first, sow the seeds of mung beans in the soil, wait for them to grow into seedlings, then the seedlings gradually mature, then blossom and bear fruit, and peel off the shells, thus exposing fresh mung beans inside.
Growth conditions of mung beans
Soil: Mung beans have low requirements for soil and strong adaptability. They can grow well in slightly acidic and alkaline soils. The most ideal condition for planting mung beans is neutral or weakly alkaline soil with deep soil layer, rich organic matter, good drainage and strong water holding capacity.
Temperature: Mung beans are warm crops. They can be sown when the surface soil temperature is averagely stable at 15- 16℃, germinate at 20℃, and germinate at 30-40℃ at the earliest. Mung beans can grow well in the peak period, with an average temperature of 18-25℃.
Light: Mung bean is a crop with short light. The shorter the illumination time, the faster the mung bean will blossom and bear fruit, but on the contrary, the longer the illumination time, the longer the mung bean will bloom, or even fail to bloom.
