There is a kind of rice cake called "Flower Cake" or "Jujube Cake". It is called "jujube cake" because it is shaped like a flower and is also made of a big and fleshy jujube in my hometown. This kind of jujube cake has another custom in my hometown. It's a kind of food specially made by my mother for girls during the Chinese New Year, which is a gift that my daughter brought home when she returned to her parents' home on the second day of the second year. The moral of jujube cake is simple. Mothers all hope that their daughters will grow younger and more beautiful like flowers in the new year, and their work and life will be prosperous and happy every year. Jujube cake has various shapes, with flour as a circular chassis and the edge rolled into strips as patterns.
