Yuanbao is an ancient currency made of gold or silver, with silver being the most common and gold being rare. In the history of Chinese currency, gold and silver were officially called ingots starting in the Yuan Dynasty. But as early as the early Tang Dynasty when Kaiyuan Tongbao was in the world, people had the meaning of taking it as large and precious, and pronounced it as Kaiyuan Tongbao.

Yuanbao originated in the Tang Dynasty.
