The origin of ghost festival
July 15 of the lunar calendar is the Mid-Autumn Festival, commonly known as Ghost Festival, and it is a day to pay homage to graves.
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on July 15th of the lunar calendar, partly on July 14th. It turned out to be Xiaoqiu, and a batch of crops were ripe. As a rule, people should worship their ancestors, provide new rice and other sacrifices, and report the situation in Qiu Cheng to their ancestors. Therefore, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, every family pays homage to their ancestors. On July 15, I went to visit the grave to worship my ancestors.
Legend has it that all the ghosts were released to the underworld on that day, and people usually carry out activities to sacrifice ghosts. Where there is a new funeral, people will go to the new grave, but generally speaking, ghosts will sacrifice in the local area. Therefore, it is a festival centered on the worship of ghosts and gods as a whole, and it is one of the largest folk festivals in China.
Taboo of Mid-Autumn Festival:
1, Yin Qi is very heavy on Ghost Festival, and there is a folk legend. It's best to go home as soon as possible on this day, and don't spend the night in the wild, so it's unlikely to see the wonders of ghosts walking at night.
2. Don't put two chopsticks in the middle of the meal during Ghost Festival these two days. It's like putting incense in an incense burner. It's like worship. This will be unlucky and will attract ghosts to share the food.
3. Don't go swimming or play with water on Ghost Festival, so as to avoid accidents, that is, the legendary water ghost will find a pair of bodies and be reborn.
4. Don't pick up money on the roadside when you go out, because money may be used to buy cow's head and horse's face. If someone picks it up, the ghost will think that this person is trying to rob them of their money and things, and then he will come to trouble, which will lead to trouble.
5. Don't look back easily. When you go out in a remote place, you must be careful not to look back easily. Even if you hear someone calling your name, go straight ahead and don't look back, lest you run into something unclean.
6. There are many sacrifices on Ghost Festival. These sacrifices are for worship, not just for eating. If you eat them at will, you will easily get into trouble and bring yourself bad luck.
7. Be careful not to sleep with long hair on the Mid-Autumn Festival, otherwise fooling around outside will be regarded as their companions and bring bad luck.
8. Burning paper in Mid-Autumn Festival is essential for every household, and these are obviously for ghosts. If someone steps on paper while walking, it will make ghosts feel that it is disrespectful to them, so it will irritate them and bring harm.
So this month is regarded as the most unlucky month by China people. We will not get married, move or hold a wedding.
