The main management measures during the flowering and fruiting period of maize are to raise roots and protect leaves, prolong the life of leaves and prevent greed, late maturity or premature aging. To fertilize the soil, we must grasp the word "early".
First, grain fertilizer topdressing
Topdressing should be carried out before and after female ear silking in maize flowering and fruiting stage, with quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer as the main fertilizer and low dosage, and attention should be paid to the combination of fertilizer and water.
However, in the actual cultivation process, we hardly go after grain and fertilizer, and at most we spray some urea solution on the leaves. Such as 1%-2% urea solution, 3%-5% calcium superphosphate leaching solution, etc.
It is not suitable to remove fertilizer at the grain stage of maize, and nitrogen fertilizer should be applied in time when yellow leaves are found at the flowering stage.
In fact, we seldom topdress corn. One-time fertilization is very common, and topdressing corn is rare, and the pursuit is also the ear stage.
Second, re-apply ear fertilizer.
The big horn period of maize is particularly important in its life, which can be regarded as a watershed in maize management. Management measures such as topdressing, soil cultivation and spraying are mostly carried out around the big horn period.
As we all know, corn is a crop that needs more nitrogen fertilizer, and the top dressing time is generally better at the big bell mouth stage, and the specific fertilization amount depends on seedling potential and soil fertility. The specific application of tapping fertilizer should be determined according to soil fertility, population size, plant growth and fertilization at seedling stage.
If the soil fertility is poor or the soil lacks fertilizer, pre-harvest fertilizer should be applied appropriately in advance and the amount of fertilizer should be increased. Topdressing at heading stage of interplanting corn and waterlogged corn should also be advanced. For plots with high density and large population, the amount of topdressing should be increased.
In short, if nitrogen fertilizer is to be applied at the grain stage of maize, the best topdressing method is foliar spraying. If the soil is topdressing early, the dosage should not be too much, otherwise it will be greedy for green and late.
