Feeding tropical fish is not a simple matter. Many people who feed flowers for the first time bought tropical fish at a high price and went home to feed them. Soon they found that the fish turned white. There are still many people who put their fish tanks in the sun, but the fish still die easily. How to feed them correctly? The following are the most common misunderstandings in tropical fish breeding.
Myth 1: tap water cannot be used.
Many people think that you can't raise tropical fish with tap water, but this is actually wrong. Because tap water is basically neutral water, the hardness and pH value meet the requirements of raising tropical fish. However, when feeding tropical fish with tap water, the chlorine in it must be removed. A dry method and a chemical method can be used.
Myth 2: Changing water must be done at one time.
The water exchange of tropical fish is divided into partial water exchange and total water exchange. Partial water change is also called "water change", that is, how much fresh water with the same amount and temperature should be added to the fish tank after drying or chemical dechlorination. You don't have to take fish and aquatic plants out of the fish tank to change water. Generally, it is advisable to not exceed a quarter of the total water in the fish tank at a time. The frequency of water replenishment is 1 ~ 2 times a week in autumn and winter, and 2 ~ 3 times a week in spring and summer.
Myth 3: The higher the water temperature, the better.
Tropical fish are extremely sensitive to temperature. If the temperature is not right, they will die soon. The water temperature of tropical fish should be 20 ~ 30℃. However, different kinds of tropical fish have different requirements for water temperature: swordfish and guppies live at a low temperature of about 18℃, and colorful angelfish and tiger skin fish will die when it is lower than 18℃.
The water temperature can be controlled in the following ways: put the fish tank in a sunny room, let the fish receive sunlight to raise the water temperature; Or using an electric heating rod, heater, etc. Used for artificial heating.
Myth 4: The more you feed, the better.
Overfeeding will worsen the water quality and lead to the death of fish. Generally, it is more appropriate to feed twice a day, from 9 am to 10 and from 4 pm to 5 pm. Feeding should have a fixed position, so that fish can concentrate on eating and reduce waste; The bait must be fresh and not spoiled.
