Several young people born and raised in Guangzhou were introduced to the culture of HipHop and Rap in 1996, and became curious about it, and then became interested in it. So they took this interest and started their study of Hip Hop. After 4 years of study and hard work, in 2000 they tried to start playing their own music. They spent a year organizing their own group [Cicada] and the music that belonged to [Cicada].

In October 2003, they formed DumDue (噔哚), which consisted of A Long, Fat Bao and Fat Xuan. In 2005, these young musicians evolved into a new organization called "Essence". The main members are: Bmd (A Long), Kidgod (Fat Bao), Edi (Fat Xuan), Fatkit (Fat Jie), Jian (Gian), DJam (Anan) The power of the 6 people rendered their unique style of Hip Hop spirit, to bring hope to the Chinese friends playing Hip Hop. 2007 united Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing to the music of people with a heart to connect together. The people who have the heart are linked together and become [Essence].
