The FAO/ WHO Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives agreed that acesulfame K should be used as a class A food additive, and the recommended daily average intake (ADI) was 0~ 15mg/kg. 1988, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of acesulfame in food, and the daily intake (ADI) was 0~ 15mg/kg. 1998, FDA approved the use of acesulfame K in soft drinks. China was approved for use in a variety of foods on 1992 (see GB2760-86 for details).
