Isaria cicadae Miquel, commonly known as Cordyceps sinensis, belongs to entomogenous fungi; Among the more than 53 kinds of Cordyceps found all over the world, Cicada and Cordyceps are only two of them. It is a wonderful creature with the morphological characteristics of "animal" and "plant". The root is the larva of cicada, and the flower grows from the head of a single or 2-3 cicada larvae, which is about one inch long and branches from the top. The pollen is milky yellow, also known as "cicada spore powder", which is simply called "seed" and has the reproductive function. Its formation process is that cicada larvae are infected and parasitized by Cordyceps before cicada emergence. When the climate and environment are suitable, the nutrients absorbed by the insects are transformed into mycelium, and finally the insects are completely occupied by the mycelium, leaving only one body. When everything recovers, the mycelium gradually transforms from the vegetative stage to the "cicada spore powder" with reproductive function in the sexual stage, and gradually branches from the top to sprout like a flower, so it is called cicada flower.
