Walnut artware making
Before making pecan shell crafts, we need to design the shape and specifications of the crafts we want to make in advance, and make molds according to the design. The preparation before production mainly includes six steps: design, mold making, material selection, slicing, kernel digging and polishing.

Let's talk about design first.

Design, which sounds like a fable, is actually the soul of creating a work. For the hickory shell handicraft, we should first design its shape, draw the plan and section of the whole handicraft, and design the size and shape of the mold according to the shape. (Drawing, at present, many manufacturers choose folding machinery to complete marking and sketching. )

According to the shape and size of the design, with the help of carpenters, modeling is carried out. For handicrafts with complex shapes, the corresponding molds should be made according to the unit specifications of split design.

The finished mold needs a polishing machine to polish the surface, and transparent tape is attached to the surface of the mold as an isolation layer. Because the surface of the tape is smooth and does not stick to latex, it is convenient for us to demould in the future. Sticking transparent tape should be flat to avoid forming wrinkles or gaps on the surface of the mold and changing the shape of the mold itself. Especially in the bend of the mold, be extra careful when pasting.

Pecans purchased from selected materials need to be selected before the next processing. When choosing, you should choose pecans with a diameter of more than 2.6 cm and good color. Because a single hickory is well developed, it is more suitable for us to cut and polish and make handicrafts, showing a stronger hollowing-out effect and a more artistic sense.

Choose pecans that meet the requirements, and then you can enter the next process.

slice up

It takes two steps to cut the whole hickory into the core we use when making handicrafts, that is, longitudinal cutting and transverse cutting, and irregular core pieces should not be cut. Longitudinal cutting, cutting the height of the core; Transverse cutting, cutting is the thickness of the core. Under normal circumstances, the height of the cut nuclear chips should be between 1.8-2.4 cm and the thickness should be 0.8 cm. Usually, a walnut can be cut into three cores.

It is not easy to cut these small pecans into thin slices that meet the requirements. As the saying goes, if a worker wants to do a good job, he must sharpen his tools first. Let's look at this first.

(Actual voice) A clip used to hold walnuts when cutting them.

When slicing, remember to cut vertically first, and then cut horizontally. The rotating speed of the chain saw blade should be about 2000 revolutions per minute. First, we clamp the walnuts with wooden clips. Then, we put the wooden pliers flat on the workbench in front of the saw blade and slowly feed them forward. When cutting, keep the hands holding the wood tongs steady to avoid accidents.

Digen

Inside the cut core, there are walnuts. We should dig out these nuts with sharp hard objects, and the dug nuts can be eaten or sold to food factories and other units. We can't ignore one thing and cause unnecessary waste.

After digging the core, it is necessary to polish the nuclear chip that meets the specifications.

When grinding, it is easy to finish with the help of grinding wheel. In the preparation before production, it is necessary to design the shape and specifications of the pen container. The pen container we want to make is 8 cm in diameter and 13 cm in height. Make a mold according to the specifications, and then compare the cut core with the mold to make the required angle. In order to make a pen container of this specification, we can predict that about 80 refills are needed. Because there is no radian in the vertical direction of the pen holder, only the angles on both sides of the core plate need to be polished, and the polishing angle is about 36 degrees. When it is ready, we can paste it.

paste

When pasting, we take the mold as the reference and support. In other words, we should stick the pellets together along the outline shown in the mold. Let's take a look at the method of sticking the tube.

First of all, we spread a piece of glass on the desktop to prevent latex from flowing to the workbench when pasting. After laying, put the mold on the glass.

The adhesive we use is ordinary latex, and in order to make it similar to the color of the core, we add a small amount of colorant into it. When pasting, we first take a core piece, stick it close to the mold, put it in a good position, and then paste it from bottom to top in turn. When sticking the last piece, because the gap left may be too big or too small, we need to compare the size with the pellets first, choose the pellets with the appropriate size, and coat the two sides connected with other pellets with latex before sticking them together. After pasting a circle, we adjust it by hand to make the pasting surface compact and tidy. Until all the paste is finished, finally, the whole adjustment and compaction are carried out to prevent the pasted nuclear chips from being uneven.

After pasting, let it dry naturally. Usually, the cooling strength of latex needs to reach more than 50%, which takes about 12 hours. We can beat the pen container by hand before preparing for demoulding to judge whether it is firmly pasted.
