1. Different functional strengths There is not much difference between wild mint and mint, especially in appearance.
But they can be distinguished functionally.
The one with stronger potency and higher medicinal value is wild mint.
Wild mint can dispel wind-heat, relieve rash and itching, relieve heat and dampness, and can also treat wind-heat, cold, and sore throat.
Although mint has similar effects in traditional Chinese medicine, its function is not as strong as wild mint.
2. Different growth environments. Wild mint grows in the mountains. It likes a growing environment with sufficient light, moisture and warmth, and can tolerate harsh environments.
Mint likes to grow in an environment between 25 degrees and 30 degrees, and prefers a warm and dry environment.
It is intolerant of water accumulation and will affect growth if the water content is severe.
And growth will become slower at temperatures above 30 degrees.
3. Different tastes. The difference between wild mint and mint can also be distinguished by taste.
Among them, wild mint has a more fragrant taste, and the whole plant has a fragrant smell. It usually blooms between July and September every year.
And if you grow mint at home, the smell is much lighter, not as good as wild mint.
Therefore, if you want to use it as a drink or to pair with wine, it will be better to use wild mint.
