The Folklore of Cloud Tea in Huaguoshan

Yunwu Tea and Qianlong Emperor

Legend has it that a long time ago, there were not so many exotic flowers and fruits on Huaguo Mountain, and there were few people around. It was said that there was a temple on this mountain where an old monk lived. There are tea trees all around the temple. The old monk carefully looks after these tea trees. Every year, he personally picks some tea leaves, fries them and saves them. Ordinary guests have no taste. One night, the old monk had a dream that a red sun rose from the Ran Ran in the sea. The old monk woke up at once and even called it a good dream. There will be guests tomorrow.

The next morning, the old monk ordered his disciples to clean the temple inside and outside, saying that a distinguished guest was waiting at the mountain gate alone. The monk thought the master was ill. How can there be any distinguished guests in this barren mountain? Nearly noon, two people came up from the mountain road as expected. The man in front is dressed up as a businessman, holding a feather fan, and the one behind him is carrying a load. At first glance, he knows that he is a Nunnery. The old monk quickly stepped forward, grabbed the guest's hand and said, The distinguished guests are coming to the door, but it's too late to meet them. The guest laughed and said, Master, I am an ordinary businessman. How can I thank you for your kindness? The old monk invited the guests to the west wing, and the two sides sat down. The old monk ordered tea. I saw a young monk take out a delicate small box from the inner room, take out tea from it, and flush it with boiling water. In an instant, the tea was fragrant and the whole west wing was shrouded in clouds. The guests repeatedly praised: good tea, good tea! The old monk said: This tea is Yunwu tea. After tea, the guest thanked him and left.

It turns out that the man dressed by that merchant is the Emperor Qianlong who likes to travel around. After drinking Huaguoshan Yunwu tea, Qianlong gradually lost interest in delicacies. After returning to Beijing, the imperial edict decided that the cloud tea in Huaguoshan was the imperial tea, and ordered the old monk who cultivated the cloud tea to be rewarded handsomely. Since then, with the care of the emperor, Huaguoshan has gradually increased its exotic flowers and fruits, becoming a Baoshan with lush trees and abundant products. Therefore, Huaguoshan Yunwu Tea has become famous in the world. The name of "Yunwu Tea" was first seen in Haizhou Zhi. It is said that there are many tea trees in Wuzheng 'an on the top of Sucheng Mountain, including a big tea tree planted in the Southern Song Dynasty, which is bathed in fog all the year round. Monks in the mountain temple collect one or two kilograms of fine tea every year, which is treasured as "Dragon Tuanfeng Cake" and kept secret from others. Since then, Yunwu tea has developed rapidly, and it is everywhere, green and fragrant, and even planted on Yunv Mountain, the first peak in Jiangsu Province. According to the evaluation, the quality of tea produced in Yunv Mountain is particularly pure, so the Yunwu tea produced is named after Huaguoshan.
