Typhoons, also known as tropical cyclones in a broad sense, are divided into six grades according to the maximum ground wind speed near the center: tropical depression (TD), tropical storm (TS), strong tropical storm (STS), typhoon (TY), strong typhoon (STY) and super typhoon (Super TY).
Central Meteorological Observatory formulates tropical cyclone wind speed scale;
Super typhoon: 16 and above ≥5 1. 1m/s
Strong typhoon: 14~ 15 magnitude 4 1.7~50.8m/s
Typhoon: 12~ 13 magnitude 32.8~4 1.4m/s
Severe tropical storm: 10- 1 1 magnitude 24.4~32.5m/s
Tropical storm: 8-9 17.5~24.2m/s
Tropical depression: 6-7 ≤17.2m/s.
