Litchi is a warm fruit.
Litchi is an evergreen tree of the family Sapindaceae, genus Litchi, about 10 meters high. Litchi is known as one of the "four great fruits of the South", the skin of the fruit has scale-like spots protruding, bright red, purple. When ripe to bright red; seeds are all wrapped in fleshy aril.
Flowering in spring, fruiting in summer. Fruit flesh translucent curd-like when fresh, flavorful, but not resistant to storage. Distributed in southwestern, southern and southeastern China, Guangdong, Guangxi and southern Fujian cultivation is most prevalent.
Lychee is usually ripe in May-August. The ripening time varies according to the variety, with the earlier February Red ripening in late March, the Round Branch ripening in late May to early June, and the Black Leaf ripening in mid-June. Hanging Green, Huai Zhi, Gui Wei, Lan Zhu, Chen Zi, Yuan Hong and other varieties ripen in July.
Lychee eating
