Which dynasty did Du Kang come from?
Xu Shen said in Shuo Wen Jie Zi that Du Kang was the fifth monarch of Xia Dynasty, Shao Kang. There are countless other statements. The most famous ones are: 1. In Xiao Tong's Selected Works of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, Du Kang was from the Yellow Emperor era. 2. Zhang Hua of the Western Jin Dynasty wrote a natural history, saying that Du Kang was the satrap of Jiuquan in the Han Dynasty and was good at making wine. 3. Brother Dou said that Du Kang was from the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. 4. It is also said that Du Kang is from Yicheng and Baishui County. Actually, the surname Du only appeared in the Zhou Dynasty, and it is not credible to say that Shao Kang is Du Kang. According to some documents, Du Kang may be the founder of making wine with sorghum. Perhaps because of his exquisite craftsmanship and the good taste of kaoliang liquor, Du Kangshan's reputation for brewing wine has risen. Over time, he was passed down as the earliest brewer, and then confused with Shao Kang.
