Sijunzi decoction is an ancient prescription mainly composed of four basic Chinese herbal medicines: Ginseng, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria and Glycyrrhiza, which is mainly used to treat spleen and stomach qi deficiency. This prescription is the basic prescription for treating spleen-stomach qi deficiency syndrome, and many prescriptions for invigorating spleen and benefiting qi in later generations have evolved from this prescription. Clinical application takes white face, less food, shortness of breath, fatigue, pale tongue with white fur and weak pulse as the key points of syndrome differentiation. Sijunzi Decoction was born out of Lizhong Pill in Treatise on Febrile Diseases. The dry ginger in the original prescription was removed and replaced with poria cocos, which changed from expelling severe cold to warming and tonifying middle qi. There are only four flavors in the recipe: ginseng, atractylodes macrocephala, poria cocos and licorice. It is not hot or dry, and it is moderately applied, which follows the ancient meaning of "a gentleman is neutral". Sijunzi decoction is a famous ancient prescription, so there are books with the same name specially introduced.
