Jin Opera is one of the four major clapper styles in Shanxi Province, which is also known as Zhonglu Clapper because it was produced in the center of Shanxi, and is called Shanxi Clapper in the provinces, and is mainly distributed in the center and north of Shanxi as well as in parts of Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia and Hebei.

In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, Puzhou Bangkas flowed into Jinzhong, and combined with Qitai Yangge, Jinzhong folk tunes, and formed Jin Opera through the participation of Jin merchants and local literati. Subsequently, it underwent several changes and developed and spread in Jinzhong, Jinbei and even parts of Inner Mongolia, Hebei and Shaanxi. The last hundred years of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China were an important period of development for Jin Opera, when there were many classes and societies and many talented people, especially after the appearance of the first generation of actresses represented by Ding Guoxian, which elevated the art of Jin Opera to a new stage.

Before and after the 1930s, a large number of performing artists appeared on the stage of the Zhonglu Opera, represented by Ding Guoxian, Niu Guiying, Guo Fengying, Ji Meilian, Cheng Yuying, etc., and the five representative genres of Jin Opera, namely, Ding, Niu, Guo, Ji and Cheng, were formed.

To this day, Ding Guoxian's "Playing the Golden Branch", "The Empty City Scheme", "Selling Paintings and Splitting the Door", "Against Xuzhou", "Weishui River", and "Eight Pieces of Clothes"; Niu Guiying's "Persuading the Palace", "Throwing the County", "Calculating Grain", "Walking on the Mountain"; Guo Fengying's "Small Feast", "Haunted Floor", "A Farewell to the Mother", "Excitement for Friends to Go Back to the Store"; JI Meilian's "Hiding the Boat", "Kill and Shame", "Hundred Flowers to Point out Generals"; and CHENG Yuying's "Teaching the Son", etc., are still enjoyed by the people. The movie is still being enjoyed by the people.

Taiyuan Experimental Jin Theater national-level actors Niu Jianwei and Liang Guixing, as well as other outstanding actors, presented the audience with such wonderful plays as "Little Feast", "Fighting God and Telling the Temple", "Double Descending the Mountain", "The Three Niangs Teaching Their Children", "Cheap Official Yu Chenglong", "Carrying the Sedan Chair" and "Xu Ce Running to the City".
