Acidic foods are foods that end up forming nitrogen, carbon, sulfur, chlorine, and salts that form acid roots that remain in the body after digestion.
Common acidic foods are:
Strongly acidic foods: beef, pork, chicken, tuna, oysters, halibut, cheese, rice, wheat, bread, alcohol, peanuts, walnuts, thin sausage, sugar, cookies, white sugar, beer and so on.
Weakly acidic foods: ham, eggs, lobster, octopus, squid, buckwheat, cream, peas, eel, river fish, chocolate, green onions, hollow noodles, fried tofu and so on.
As for the role of acidic foods, there are theories:
1. Acidic foods help iron to be better absorbed. In an acidic environment, trivalent iron is easily transformed into divalent iron that is easily soluble in water. If the body lacks gastric acid, it will affect the absorption of iron, and the absorption rate of iron will decrease, and the formation of hemoglobin will be blocked, which is easy to cause anemia, and affect the development of the fetus. Therefore, eating more acidic food can promote the body to better absorb iron and promote the formation of hemoglobin.
2. Acidic food is good for fetal bone formation. The main component of bone is calcium, and the process of free calcium forming calcium salts and depositing them in the bones cannot be separated from the participation of acidic substances. A moderate intake of acidic food is conducive to the formation of fetal bones in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy and promotes fetal development.
But there are also theories that a high intake of acidic foods in the daily diet will acidify body fluids and break the normal acid-base balance, and even lead to the formation of an acidic body. And acidic body will cause health problems.
