Lettuce belongs to the genus Lettuce in Compositae, with large stems and is the main edible part. Delicious and crisp, also known as lettuce for stems. Lettuce, lettuce, and oil wheat vegetables all belong to the genus Lettuce, and the environmental conditions suitable for their growth are similar. Because the edible parts are different, the management of water and fertilizer is still different. There are two kinds of lettuce, north and south, both in the open field and in the shed.
First of all, let's understand the suitable environmental conditions for lettuce growth.
Lettuce likes cold climate, and it is cold-resistant and heat-resistant. The suitable temperature for its growth is 15- 18℃. Generally planted in early spring and autumn and winter, I like loose and fertile soil and water. It needs an adequate water supply during its growth.
Second, the cultivation method of lettuce
1. Variety selection: There are quite a few varieties of lettuce. Generally speaking, cold-resistant varieties are selected in early spring, and heat-resistant and bolting-resistant varieties are selected in summer and autumn.
2. Planting method: plant lettuce after raising seedlings in production. The seedling age is generally 40-50 days, and it will be planted when it grows to 4-6 true leaves. Prepare soil before planting, apply 4-6 cubic meters of decomposed manure and 30 kilograms of compound fertilizer per mu, turn over the ground and rake the border. Plant spacing is 30cm*30cm. After planting, irrigate the planting water, and then squat the seedlings properly. Stop crouching when the lettuce grows to about 8 leaves and begins to cluster. The amount of watering should not be too large. After watering for about 7 days, the demand for water and fertilizer will increase. Water frequently, keep the soil moist, and topdressing each time, with topdressing per mu 10 kg.
3. Harvesting standard: The top heart leaf of lettuce is flat with the rest leaves, which is the best time to harvest. It should be harvested in time, otherwise the lettuce will easily get old and fiber will increase.
Generally speaking, lettuce can be cultivated almost all year round, but it is cultivated most in spring, with the best yield and quality. In other seasons, if we want to overcome the influence of natural disasters such as high temperature and drought, we can also get better yield.
