Ponchini is a small shrub of the Rosaceae family, distributed in southeastern Hubei (Tongshan), Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, Henan, Korea, and Japan. The whole plant and roots are used as medicine, which can reduce inflammation and detoxification, clear heat and calm shock, invigorate blood, and dispel wind-dampness. 1 species is similar to the prickly berry R. taiwanianus Matsum. but the latter is eglandularly hairless; leaflets rounded-obtuse at the tip, sparsely acute, base rounded or subcordate; pedicel up to 2 cm long; flowers to 2.5 cm in diam.
