The Qingming Festival in 2023 is Wednesday, April 5. The Qingming Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in China, along with the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival, which are known as the four major traditional festivals in China. Qingming Festival is celebrated on the 4th, 5th or 6th of April every year. According to legend, after the establishment of the Zhou Dynasty, the Duke of Zhou ordered people to measure the sun's shadow with "Tu Gui" to determine the twenty-four solar terms, of which Qingming is one of them. Later, in order to honor the loyal minister Jie Zi Tui, Duke Wen of Jin, Chong Er designated the third day before Qingming as the Cold Food Festival.
