Tailed beasts, in the Japanese manga Naruto and its derivative works, are magical beasts with tails; in the ninja world, there are ten Tailed Beasts*** (the Ten Tails are a combination of the nine Tailed Beasts and the Gaido Devil Statue), which are lifeforms that are materialized in giant chakra.

The Tailed Beasts were originally part of the chakra-creating god Ten Tails, and were born as a result of the Rokudou Sennin, Otsutsuki Hagoromo, who was inspired by the Asura's way of being, so he drew the chakra of the Ten Tails out of his body and created them using the Yin-Yang Transportation Technique. The ten tails became empty shells due to the loss of chakra and formed the Gaido Demon Statue, which Hajime sealed within the moon with the Dibaku Tenjin, after which Rokudou Sennin drew the nine tailed beasts out of his body, and for a time was very weak as a result.
