There are knives, forks, spoons, plates, saucers, cups and so on. Eating different dishes requires different knives and forks, and drinking different wines requires different cups. The arrangement is as follows: the main course is in front, the fork is in the left hand, the knife is in the right hand, the spoon is above the main course, and the glass is in the upper right. Napkins are placed on the main course or in the water glass, and some are placed on the left side of the plate. The bread and cream tray is in the upper left corner.
2. How to use tableware:
(1) knife. The most correct posture of holding a knife at a banquet is: holding a knife with your right hand, your thumb on the side of the handle, and your index finger on the back of the handle to hold the handle. Don't put your index finger on the back of the knife unless it is a dish that can be cut hard or the knife is too blunt. In addition, don't hold the knife with your little finger straight. Some women think this posture is elegant, but it is wrong. Knives are used to cut food. Don't stir the food with a knife, send it to your mouth.
If there are three kinds of knives with different specifications at the same time when eating, the correct usage is: the one with small serrations is used to cut meat for food; Medium size is used to cut large vegetables into small pieces; Cut the buns with a knife with a round tip and a slightly upturned top, and then use it to pick some jam and cream to spread on it. When cutting food, your elbows should sink and your forearms should be slightly close to the edge of the table, otherwise you will make the other person feel that your eating style is bad and the cut food may fly out.
(2) bifurcation. There are two ways to hold the fork, back up and inside up, as the case may be. Holding your back up is the same as holding a knife. Press the back of the handle with your index finger and hold the handle with the other four fingers. The tip of the index finger is roughly at the root of the handle. If it is too far ahead, the appearance is not good, and if it is too far back, it is not easy to use force, so hard food is not easy to fork in. When the inside of the fork is facing up, use the thumb and forefinger as pencils to press the handle, and the other three fingers support the lower part of the handle. Press your thumb and forefinger in the center of the handle. If you are too advanced, you will be clumsy. Hold the fork in your left hand, with the fork teeth facing down, and fork up the food and send it to your mouth. If you eat soft food such as noodles or peas, the fork teeth can face up.
Move lightly, pick up the right amount of food and put it in your mouth at one time. Don't drag a big piece, take a bite and put it down. This is obscene. When the fork picks up the food and enters the mouth, the teeth only touch the food. Don't bite the fork, and don't let the knife and fork make a sound on your teeth or plate. When eating big vegetables, you can fold and cut them with a knife and fork. Soft food can be put on a fork and arranged with a knife. Pay attention to the use of knives and forks: don't move too much to affect others: don't make noise when cutting food; Eat the cut food in one bite, don't fork it up and bite it; Don't talk with a knife and fork, and don't point it at people; Don't pick up the knife and fork that fell to the ground and use it again. Please ask the waiter to change it.
If you need to leave for a while or talk to people during the meal, you should put down your knife and fork, with the right fork left, the blade inward and the fork teeth downward, in a figure of eight; Put the words on the plate. It says: the food has not been used up. But be careful not to put it in a cross. Westerners think this is an unlucky model. If you finish eating, or don't want to eat any more, you can put the knife edge inward, the fork tooth upward, the knife right fork left and put it on the plate. It says: You can't eat any more. You can take the knife and fork with the plate.
(3) spoon. On formal occasions, there are many kinds of spoons, the small ones are used to hold coffee and dessert; Buttered and cake-sharing apartments; Larger, used for drinking soup or holding small food; The biggest one is a spoon, which is used to divide soup and is common in white food. Spoons and dessert spoons shall not directly scoop other staple foods and dishes except soup and dessert. When eating, don't put the whole spoon in your mouth, you should enter from the front of it. Don't put the spoon back after use, and don't put it in the dish or "stand upright" in the tableware.
4 napkins. Generally speaking, napkins are placed in the center of the plate or next to the fork. After sitting down, you can put napkins on your chest and hem, not in your shirt or belt. Or the napkin can lie flat on your lap. If it is a square napkin, it should be folded into an isosceles triangle with the right angle facing the knee. If it's a rectangular napkin, it should be folded in half and spread out on the leg. The opening and folding of napkins should be done quietly under the table so as not to affect others.
Napkins have a cleaning function to prevent dishes and juice from falling off and soiling clothes; Can also be used to wipe your mouth, generally with the inside, can not be used to wipe your face, sweat, tableware; It can also be used to cover your mouth. When you need to pick your teeth or spit out your mouth, you can cover it with a napkin to avoid losing your manners. If you drop a napkin, ask for a new one and pick it up.
