The male White Horse Cockatoo is densely covered with short black downy feathers on the top of the head; the ear feathers are white in color and extend backward into short horns, but do not protrude from the head. The upper and lower body feathers are pure white, with the ends dispersed in a hairline pattern. Dorsum slightly tinged with gray; chin and throat tinged with brown, longer tail and wing coverts slightly tinged with dark gray, primary coverts dark brown on the inner quill; outer quill dark grayish brown with white margins, secondary flight feathers blackish brown with violet luster; primary flight feathers and winglets dark tawny brown; tail very long, faience-blue, grayish at the base, with dark greenish and bluish-purple ends with a metallic sheen; the central pair of tail feathers with the bulk of the plumage dispersed and pendulous. The female is similar to the male, but slightly smaller and with duller plumage. Iris orange-yellow, face bare, bright red, with warty protuberances; beak pink; feet, toes red, claws role. Male with spurs.
White Horse Cockerel *** divided into four subspecies, Chamdo subspecies is a true White Horse Cockerel, in addition to the top of the head for the downy black, the end of the tail feathers glow green-blue, the feathers of the whole body almost all snow white color; Yushu subspecies of the whole body feathers are all shades of grey; Lijiang subspecies of most of the body feathers are white, just the end of the wings light gray-brown; Finger subspecies and Lijiang subspecies of the close similarity, but the back is slightly stained with grey, darker on the wings, the back of the body feathers is also slightly stained with gray. The wings are a little darker gray-brown.
