1. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, in order to win the favor of the emperor, Yan Song, the elder Ge, got a pair of flavoring drugs from a monk and gave them to the emperor to burn soup and drink. The soup is delicious and long Yan is delighted, so it is named "Yu Tang". After the death of the Ming Dynasty, the imperial chef Zhao Ji fled to Xiaoyao, Henan Province (now Xiaoyao Town, Xihua County) with this medicine and spread it to this place. The local people therefore have a spicy soup, so they renamed it "Hu Spicy Soup".
2. It is said that Hu La Tang cured the cold of Yu Qian, a famous upright official in Ming Dynasty. According to the selected works commemorating "Yu Qian Memorial Hall", Yu Qian was the governor of Henan and Shanxi provinces and was stationed in Kaifeng. One year, when he was visiting Zhengzhou on his birthday, he found a "Hu Ji" restaurant according to the frugal practice, drank a bowl of hot soup and spent his birthday. This unique birthday food made Yu Qian deeply remember its delicious taste.
On one occasion, Yu Qian came back from a tour of Shanxi and passed by Zhengzhou. Due to the tiring journey and busy business, he fell ill with a cold for several days, but he still couldn't get well. One night, Yu Qian suddenly remembered the soup of Hu Ji and sent someone to buy it. When the shopkeeper of "Hu Ji" heard that the governor wanted to eat it, he put enough seasoning and made it carefully. Yu Qian broke out in a big sweat after eating, and the next day, he was light and healthy, and his cold was unconsciously cured. Yu Qian sealed the silver twelve taels, thanked the shopkeeper Hu for his kindness in treating the disease, and suggested that the soup be named after Hu's surname. Since then, this soup has become a "Hu spicy soup".
3. After the Qing Dynasty, more and more people sold Hu spicy soup in Zhengzhou. However, because the Qing Dynasty was founded by Manchu people, the people dared not say the word "Hu" more, and the soup looked mushy, and "Hu" and "paste" were homonyms, so Hu Spicy Soup was later changed to Hu Spicy Soup, which has been used ever since. Nowadays, Hu Spicy Soup has been customarily called Hu Spicy Soup, also known as "Palace Royal Brocade Soup".
