For many people, the first problem that needs to be solved when working from home is that there is not enough work space. For this reason, German designer Moritz Putzier designed a kitchen that can be used for cooking while working and studying. The table, when you are tired from working, pick up the shovel and cook a meal directly for yourself, which not only solves the problem of hunger, but also allows you to relax from the tense rhythm and get a moment of rest.
The surface of this table does not look much different from a long solid wood table. The designer divided the dining table into two parts. There are some knobs in the middle seam to install the gas stove. After being installed, the table is covered with white gas. The stove looks like a ceramic round container, and under the table is a small gas tank. The gas stove can be installed at will, two, left, right or in the middle.
This design means that there is only a small round ceramic container on the desktop, and you can start cooking and making porridge. When not needed, the gas stove can be dismantled in a few simple steps, and the table simply slides and turns into a seamless workbench, where you can read, do work, and have a cup of coffee with friends.
Of course, the stove alone is not enough. There is a black iron handle on one side of the table, on which pots, pans, utensils and other items can be hung. There are also rags that can be placed on it. There are a set of three ceramic containers included, with different specifications, and they look a bit like the gas stove introduced above. Each comes with a wooden lid, but can actually be removed and used as a cutting board.
Moritz Putzier said he hopes people focus on the experience of cooking and enjoy the process rather than the food itself. You can sit here and study the next recipe, watch a movie, or invite friends over to eat a meal you cooked. The process of preparing the meal, cooking it, and tasting the prepared dish are all completed and shared here with friends. Even if you invite friends who don’t know how to cook, they can sit across from you and chat with you, watching your cooking.
This dining table is both furniture and kitchen equipment, and it is also a social space. It is flexible and interactive, allowing the kitchen to return to its simplest and most original concept.
