The rulers of the Yuan Dynasty brutally suppressed the surging peasant uprising. The Yuan Army and the Red Scarf Army, which came down from Henan and Hubei, went back and forth in Hunan, and suffered repeated battles and defeats, causing numerous deaths and injuries to the people. They were called "bloodbath Hunan". Liling is just above the Hunan-Jiangxi passage, and the miserable situation can be imagined.

This evening, on the way from Liling to Pingxiang, two refugees, an old man and a young man, came. This thin man is Zhu Yuanzhang, the Hongwu emperor who later started the foundation of the Ming Dynasty for hundreds of years, carrying his mother on his back. Zhu Yuanzhang's mother and son fled all the way from Changsha and were already exhausted. They came to Wangfang where Pingyi handed over. People on both sides of the road have already fled, and they can't even get a drink. This is also an epiphany. Mother Zhu said that she saw a little light in mid-air, which was probably a temple. Zhu Yuanzhang was asked to carry her to the temple to rest. Zhu Yuanzhang carried his mother along the mountain road and climbed to the top of the big screen. This is a very good temple. In the dim light, I can see the words "Wu Chu Ancient Temple" written on the gate, and a pair of couplets on both sides "The horizon is boundless, the first peak in the southeast of Wu Chu". It seems that this is the junction of Wu Chu, and the top of the mountain is in Jiangxi, so it should be relatively safe. Zhu Yuanzhang came forward and slapped the gate, but the monks in the temple blew out a little light. Zhu Yuanzhang was about to get angry when Zhu Mu said, "Forget it. Monks don't know who we are. It's just right not to open the door Let's sleep outside. " Because the mountain is steep and the gate is not wide, Zhu Yuanzhang found some leaves to pave the way, and arranged for his mother to lie down, so he could only sit curled up against the temple wall. Recalling my experience in the first half of my life, I can't help feeling deeply. Fortunately, Zhu Yuanzhang is a very optimistic person. He picked up a stone and carved four poems on the temple wall: "the sky is a carpet, and the sun, the moon and the stars sleep on me." I dare not stretch my feet at night, for fear that the mountains and rivers will wear through. " Because of this feeling of Zhu Yuanzhang, Pingshan Temple was later called "Huang Jue Temple", which is another story.

This is also taken for granted. The wind in Pingshan is too strong. After sleeping outside all night, Zhu's mother fell ill. Zhu Yuanzhang had to borrow a house in the temple, find some herbs to recuperate and help the temple do some rough work. After ten days' delay, the abbot of the temple asked Zhu Yuanzhang to scrub all the bodhisattvas in Ursa Major. Zhu Yuanzhang was about to start work when it suddenly began to rain. Zhu Yuanzhang thought, if only these bodhisattvas could leave the temple. I just had this idea, because this is the son of heaven. Bodhisattvas in the Hall of the Great Hero are automatically moved to the front of the hall so that the rain can wash them clean. After dinner, they moved back to the main hall, and the weather was fine. After hearing this, the abbot was silent for a long time. However, Zhu's situation is getting worse and worse. Just wait for Liu Bowen, another important figure who created the Ming Dynasty.

Liu Bowen was exceptionally clever at an early age, and he was gifted. He knew astronomy above, geography below, the art of war above and the number of tricks below. He has a good memory. He reads from line to line. Before he was twenty years old, he became a great genius and celebrity in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, attracting worldwide attention and being compared to Zhu Gekongming by people at that time. At that time, Liu Bowen was appointed as Cheng of Gao 'an County, Jiangxi Province by the Yuan Dynasty, and later became Commander-in-Chief of the Yuan Dynasty. However, his suggestion was not only rejected by the imperial court, but also suppressed by his superiors many times. At that time, anti-Yuan uprisings were surging all over the country, and the rule of the Yuan Dynasty was crumbling. Of course, Liu Bowen also knew the astrology of the son of heaven in Tanzhou, so he resigned angrily and came to Hunan from Jiangxi to find the real son of the dragon.

Liu Bowen came to the border of Pingyi, saw the purple gas on the big screen, strolled up the mountain, and was surprised to see four poems written by Zhu Yuanzhang on the gable outside the mountain gate. I was about to push the door into the temple when I heard cries. When asked, Zhu's mother died because of a serious illness. Zhu Yuanzhang was sad for his mother and worried that he had no money for burial. Liu Bowen asked Zhu Yuanzhang, who wept bitterly for the poem, called my Lord and bowed down. Then he paid Zhu Yuanzhang to bury his mother next to the temple and built a rockery in front of the grave for fear of destruction. Then they talked about the world situation all night, and finally determined the strategic policy of "destroying Chen Youliang first, then destroying Zhang Shicheng, and then going north to the Central Plains to unify the whole country". As for his mother's grave and the poems carved on the temple wall, they still exist today.

In addition, Zhu Yuanzhang and his subjects strode down the Taiping Mountain and went to Guo Zixing for the first time, an anti-Yuan rebellion. The troops are stationed in Baitutan and Furi Hotan. It was hot at that time, and the bodies that died in vain could not be buried. There are all kinds of dead animals everywhere, and the dense forest makes the whole ridge filled with this strange smell. Strategist Liu Bowen suggested that measures should be taken quickly, otherwise the plague would spread and the troops would soon lose their fighting capacity. So, Zhu Yuanzhang took Liu Bowen to travel and soon discovered a strange phenomenon. There is no dead mouse near the firecracker workshop, and there is a leisurely fragrance. It turns out that the area centered on Baitutan and Fuli is the main producing area of firecrackers. Leeb, the founder of firecrackers, was born in Mashi Village, Fuli Town. Since the early years of the Tang Dynasty, this place has been the largest producer of firecrackers in China, and sulfur, one of the raw materials for making firecrackers, has the function of disinfection. Zhu Yuanzhang then found sulfur from the firecracker workshop, mixed a small amount of black powder, and twisted it into long strips. After lighting, it is full of sparks and smoke, and it is smoked in front of and behind the house, which really achieves the effect of preventing plague. Later, Zhu Yuanzhang constantly improved his practice and tied the powder keg to a bamboo stick, which made it more convenient to use. Nearby residents followed suit and made this kind of powder keg. Because this "powder keg" will only burn and release smoke and sparks, and will not explode. Different from previous firecrackers, it is called "fireworks" by the masses, which is the origin of "fireworks".

Inventing and using "fireworks" to disperse the plague became Zhu Yuanzhang's first contribution, and soon gained the trust of Guo Zixing and became the leader of a small army. Is Zhu Yuanzhang a person living in Gansu, so he discussed with Liu Bowen to step up the training team. In the era of cold weapons, marching and fighting pay attention to formation, and each formation needs constant practice to be proficient. This kind of drill is easy to say during the day, and the commanding general can be mobilized freely by standing on the general platform and waving various flags. However, it doesn't work on a moonless night. One night, Zhu Yuanzhang was sitting in a tent, watching the soldiers in the tent holding a "firework barrel" for disinfection. He had a brainwave and asked each soldier to practice formation with a "gunpowder barrel", so that even in the dark night, he could clearly see the evolution of formation. In this way, Zhu Yuanzhang trained his army day and night until he became the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty.

Later, clever Liling people invented a group sports activity "Star Lantern" according to the situation of holding a "powder keg" in the dark. "Star Lantern" is usually held on the night of the first month, and the Lantern Festival reaches its climax. The whole activity consists of five or seven people, each holding a incense, which can be placed in more than ten formations with ropes. It has been circulated in Baitutan, Nanqiao and Fuli in Dongxiang, Liling. The cultural department is excavating and sorting out and preparing to declare it as intangible cultural heritage.
