Share a four-day itinerary to explore Beijing’s historic sites and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery in the suburbs of Beijing.
Itinerary: Cuandixia Village - Huangcaoliang - Panlongshan Great Wall - Beijing Central Axis Cycling
Day1?: A must-visit century-old village in western Beijing - Cuan Dixia Village
Itinerary: Depart from the city in the morning and arrive in about two hours. Navigation: Cuandixia Village Tickets: 35 yuan/person Parking: Free. There is a parking lot at the entrance of the village, which is small and difficult to park. There is a large parking lot at the foot of the mountain five or six minutes' walk from the village. It is recommended to park your car here and walk up.
Cuandixia Village is located inside the Cuanbai Scenic Area. It has a history of more than 400 years and is an ancient village built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The houses are built according to the mountains. Looking down from the top of the mountain, they are surrounded by mountains. The houses are scattered at different heights. The overall layout is shaped like a "gourd" and a "yuanbao". The builders of the village intended to capture the "Fu Lu" and "Gold and Silver". It gives the ancient village environment an auspicious meaning.
The village is small, and you can visit it in half a day. You can have dinner at the farmhouse in the village at noon. Most of the farmhouses in the village are stewed in iron pots, which are moderately priced and taste pretty good.
There are several cafes scattered around the village, where you can relax after a meal.
After dining, you can go to the Yixiantian scenic spot about 1 km away from the village. Either on foot or by car?
If you are worried about driving at night, you can stay in a B&B in the village at night. After dinner, you can sit in the courtyard and enjoy the beautiful scenery and enjoy the cool breeze.
Day2?: Huangcaoliang
Exit the west exit of Cuandixia Village to the starting point of the Huangcaoliang hike. Time schedule: A round trip of 10 kilometers, a climb of about 800 meters, and a one-way trip of about 3 hours. It is recommended to start in the morning.
Enter the gate of the scenic spot and walk along the hardened road. In about 15 minutes, you will reach an open land. There is a bungalow on the slope. The path next to the house is the starting point of the hike. Time allocation: Hardened road (15min)? Country road (15min)? Mountain steps (1h)? Jungle trail (1.5h)? Huangcaoliang
There is only one road in the whole journey, just follow the road.
The entire hiking route is very comfortable, with lush trees, cool breeze, and no worries about exposure to the sun.
The top of the mountain is really beautiful! The moment I climbed up, all the fatigue was gone, and my only thought was to carry a tent on my back next time to watch the Milky Way.
After going down the mountain, you can choose to stay in Cuandixia Village or return to the city. Tips: There are no stores for supplies throughout the journey, so you need to bring your own food. It's best for girls to apply lip balm. The wind on the top of the mountain is a bit wild and makes your mouth hurt. It is recommended to bring hiking sticks. If you don’t have any, it will save a lot of effort to pick up a stick at the bottom of the mountain. Please take away self-heating pots, lunch boxes and other garbage and do not leave it in the mountains.
Day3?: Panlongshan Great Wall
In addition to the magnificent Great Wall that has been repaired and developed, Beijing also has the wild Great Wall that wanders among the high mountains. Panlongshan Great Wall is one of them. This niche hiking route is highly recommended. There are fewer people and the scenery is not inferior to Badaling or Mutianyu.
Because the hiking intensity the previous day was relatively high and the Panlongshan Great Wall Scenic Area was small, it did not take much time, so you can choose to set off after lunch. Navigation to Erzhai Xigou parking lot Ticket: 33/person, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei card free Distance: 7 kilometers Time: 4 hours
After entering the scenic spot, there is a fork in the road, just choose one, and finally You can go to the Great Wall. The stone steps on the left are close to Jiangjun Terrace, and the wooden plank on the right is close to the 24th Building.
The ancient bricks and stones, interspersed with weeds, dilapidated and desolate, are almost integrated with nature but still stand stubbornly, giving a strong sense of history.
The Panlongshan Great Wall has no city walls, so the sense of barrier of time no longer exists. The vicissitudes and outlines that are within reach stretch along the veins of the mountains.
This section of the road has a small climb and is very easy to walk. It takes more than an hour to reach the 24th building in the east of the scenic spot. You can choose to watch the sunset from here.
Looking at the broken side wall of the 24th Building with its back, further east are the Jinshanling Great Wall, Simatai Great Wall, and in the distance is the Wuling Mountain standing like a cliff.
Sunset? After going down the mountain, you can choose to stay one night in the nearby Gubei Water Town, or you can choose to go back to the city. Tips: If you plan to hike the entire route and want to wait for sunset, you can choose the stone steps route on the left, first hike to the General Tower, and then turn back to the 24th Eye Tower. The field of view is relatively broad. When you first enter the scenic area, there are some facilities such as rock climbing and single-plank bridges, which are suitable for children to play. There are restrooms only at the entrance to the scenic area.
Day4?: Stroll along the central axis of Beijing
On the first three days, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the suburbs of Beijing. On the fourth day, you can stroll along the central axis of Beijing and taste the flavor of old Beijing. gourmet food.
Route: Drum Tower - Shichahai - Jingshan Park - North and South Chizi Street - Tiananmen Drum Tower Ticket: 20
The Drum Tower is a landmark building in Beijing, a relic of the charm of the ancient capital, and full of fireworks. New life in old Beijing. The Drum Tower is connected to the alley, giving rise to bustling market life.
In the square between the Drum Tower and the Bell Tower, you often see this scene: on a summer afternoon, a cup of tea, a cattail leaf fan, and a person sitting on a rocking chair, pouring and drinking, free and relaxed. . Recommended delicacies:
Beijing-style delicacies:
Yao Ji Fried Liver and Menzhang Braised Pork in the southeast corner of Drum Tower
Nearby treasure shops:
Toast at the orchid, hidden in the alley, the terrace can overlook the Drum Tower; oh! My fine, Kujin Tavern Shichahai
After passing the Yandai Xiejie from the Drum Tower, you will arrive at Shichahai.
When traveling to Shichahai, you can either ride a bike or go boating on the lake. You can also hail a rickshaw and walk through the alleys, looking for traces of the ancient capital, while listening to the master's description of old Beijing.
Shichahai has been known as the "White Lotus Pond" since ancient times. There is a lotus viewing area near the island in the center of the lake. Even though it is already the beginning of autumn, there are still lotus trees, making this calm sea even more vibrant.
There are cafes and bars on both sides of Shichahai. When night falls, you can meet up with a few friends and listen to free and easy folk music. Surrounding attractions: Soong Ching Ling’s former residence, Prince Gong’s Mansion Recommended food:
Beijing-style delicacies: Nanmen Shabu Shabu
Coffee and drinks: Sugar Room, after ordering, go directly to the fourth floor, where you can overlook Shichahai , looking at the Drum Tower and the Bell Tower in the distance
I don’t recommend the food on Yandai Xiejie, it’s unpalatable and not authentic to Jingshan Park
Come out of Houhai and walk along the Di’anmen Street with few vehicles and shady roads. Take a stroll along the street and you'll reach Jingshan Park in about 20 minutes.
Climbing to the Wanchun Pavilion, you can see the city of Beijing at a glance from the "first place in the Beijing Range Rover". The rows of high-rise buildings in the east complement the historical richness of the ancient buildings on the central axis. They are either modern or simple, prosperous or quiet.
It is recommended to enter from the west gate of Jingshan Park. After exiting the east gate, you can ride along the cool and comfortable North-South Chizi Street to Tiananmen Square.
