Landmark building
The most special landmark in Seattle is the Space Needle Tower, which was built by 1962 for the 2 1 century Expo. The Expo site around it was changed to Seattle Center, which is still the venue for many important folk and artistic activities.
Other famous landmarks include Smith Tower, Park Market, Experience Music Project (EMP), Seattle Central Library and Bank of America Building, which is the fourth tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi River in the United States and the highest 12 in the United States.
Festival activities
The most famous cultural activities in Seattle are the 24-day Seattle International Film Festival, the Northwest Folk Art Festival held on Memorial Day weekend, and the Ocean Expo in summer. Seattle Bite, Bumbershoot, International Children's Drama Festival and Northwest Book Festival held on Labor Day weekend. Usually thousands of people attend these festivals. Marijuana Festival and Independence Day Parade always attract many people.
Dozens of downtown Seattle hold one or more street festivals every year, and many people hold parades or competitions every year. The largest street art festival includes hundreds of stalls, artists and many performance stages, with hundreds of people attending, and the smallest is only a dozen stalls and artists, which is similar to a large-scale market. Other important events include running dances organized by many Indians, a Greek festival and national festivals held by many different nationalities.
Like many other big cities, there are many other small-scale activities in Seattle, such as book fairs, special film festivals and two-day bicycle races from Seattle to Portland for about 8,000 people every year.
Art, culture and celebration
According to the survey of American artists in 2004, there are more art-related enterprises and organizations in Tacoma, Seattle, per capita than any other city in the United States. The artistic landscape includes: Seattle Symphony Orchestra (performed at Benaroya Concert Hall in Bellagio Concert Hall), Seattle Opera Troupe and Northwest Pacific Ballet (performed at Marion Oliver McCaw Concert Hall), countless galleries, Seattle Art Museum, seattle asian art museum, and Rock Museum of Sensory Music Engineering. There are 80 troupes in Seattle, of which 25 are professional troupes. Seattle has the advantage of organizing large-scale concerts, and has attracted international attention for leading original rock music, pop music and jazz.
