In fact, my enthusiasm for these traditional houses on the Sichuan-Tibet line is no less than the scenery and humanities. Only by combining the three can a place exude charm.
The farther west you go, the more you can appreciate all kinds of residential buildings on the Sichuan-Tibet line. The most intuitive feeling of Tibetan residential buildings is that they are very different from our traditional residential buildings.
In this era of reinforced concrete, many primitive architectural styles are still preserved in most parts of Tibet. This is closely related to its geographical location, climatic conditions, ethnic religion and regional culture.

There are many nomadic people in Tibetan areas. They live on the grassland and graze for a living. Nomads live on weeds, so they all live in tents. This kind of tent has simple structure and flexible support and disassembly, which is very suitable for swimming.
When herders make tents in winter, they first weave yak hair into felt strips, then make tents according to the size and specifications, support them with brackets, and build low walls with turf and stones around them. This kind of tent can resist the snowstorm and cold climate on the plateau.
In summer, tents are often made of simple white sails and Tibetan cloth.
Diaofang
Different from the counting house, the bunker already has the basic structure of the house. This kind of building can be seen in Lhasa, Xigaze, Qamdo and other urban areas. Taking earth and stone as the main building materials, the wall thickness is about 50 cm, which is warm in winter and cool in summer, which is very suitable for the plateau climate in Tibetan areas.
This kind of house is generally about 2-3 floors, with one floor for raising livestock and the second floor for living people. There is something strange about the setting of the toilet! Dig a hole on the second floor, and the feces will fall directly into the cesspit outside the barn on the ground floor.
cave dwelling
Cave dwellings are rare in Tibetan areas. In places with harsh environment, such as the northern slope of the Himalayas, soil mountains and soil forests are relatively developed, and residents use local materials to build caves. This kind of cave is especially cold and windproof in winter.
collapse
The collapsed houses are mainly distributed in forest-rich areas. At first, it was mainly "collapse", and later it was combined with "bunker" to form a stone-wood structure with rammed earth as the main part and masonry as the auxiliary part, and one or two "collapse" buildings were set up on it.
Characteristic residential houses on the Sichuan-Tibet line
Daofu dwellings
Daofu folk house is one of the most distinctive Tibetan folk houses. On the way to Daofu, rows of Tibetan dwellings appeared in front of people, and the landscape made the local folds shine.
The local houses are mainly made of wood, and then dyed brown and white. The brown main wall and the white roof look like interesting building blocks from a distance.
The interior decoration is so luxurious! It's like walking into a palace
Xinduqiao mu ya min ju
Xinduqiao is known as a photographer's paradise, surrounded by mountains and waters, with antique stone walls and traditional antique roofs. Houses generally have 2-3 floors, with livestock on the ground floor and people living upstairs. More than a dozen square windows of the same size have been opened around the walls of each floor, and ventilation and sunshine have been well guaranteed.
You can put your horse in front of the house.
Danba Furniture Cangzhai
The houses here are all built on the mountain, combined with the surrounding green space, with white and reddish brown as the keynote. From the appearance, it has the shape of a bunker and is similar to a stockade.
Most of these small buildings have 3-4 floors, with prayer flags hanging in front of the door, and a small tower on the roof with Mani flag on it.
Like the common bunker dwellings, livestock are raised on the first floor, and there are living rooms, kitchens and living rooms on the second and third floors, and there is a lecture hall on the top floor.
Changdu Kangba dwellings
Changdu Kangba is located at the intersection of Sichuan, Tibet, Qinghai and Yunnan cultures, which absorbs and integrates multiculturalism, so its residential buildings are also the material crystallization of multiculturalism.
The traditional "collapse" structure is integrated with the bunker and evolved. The wall thickness can reach1.2m with stone as the foundation and soil as the wall.
Dege bengkuo dwellings
Dege is located in a deep valley, and the local houses are built on the mountain. Although the terrain is limited, the spatial layout of local houses is more free. You can build two or three floors. Usually mainly reddish brown. Red is the color of Tibetan Buddha statues.
On the second floor of Dege residence, there is usually a balcony with a relatively large space in the middle or side. They like to carve two or three patterns on the window frames, and then color them to add life to the house.
If you just go sightseeing along the way, you are likely to miss these characteristic houses. I suggest you go to road trip Club with good professionalism, good quality and good reputation, and be familiar with the Sichuan-Tibet route. They can take you to deeply appreciate the local life and customs.
