Pigeon feather color was called feather suit and feather in ancient times. In the past, some people used white, black, purple, blue and gray as the basic colors of feather color. In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, Zhang wrote The Pigeon Classic, which divided feather colors into two categories: "Five colors are divided into different qualities, and they are written alternately, gathering like embroidery and scattering like falling flowers." According to the names commonly used in pigeon world at present, it can be divided into six categories: gray, black, white, red, raindrops and flowers.

(1) gray

Also known as gray shell, gray ditch, gray with gray, gray second line, gray second side (through stare blankly, wheel), second line, second line decolorization, blue, blue. The international abbreviation is B (blue). The whole body is gray, and there are two thick black edges between the two abdomen. The neck to the upper chest is black or dark gray, and the wings and tail feathers are black.

① Black ash is also called black ash, Qing Wu shell, garbage ash, rat skin and squirrel.

② Medium ash is also called tile ash, cyan ash, cyan, cyan wool and reed ash.

③ Light gray is also called silver gray, silver gray string, pink gray, white tile gray, light gray and bright.

(2) Black

Also known as black omen, black shell and ink pigeon. The international abbreviation is d.c. (dark chess). The whole body is black or the abdomen is gray, and there are white feathers between the upper and lower tails. And the sauce board is black.

(3) Red

Also known as sauce crimson, rice soup paste, chestnut and red shell. The international abbreviation is R (red). The whole body is crimson, and there are two deep chestnut ribs in both abdomen.

1 crimson. Also known as crimson, dahongpao, fire gourd, big crimson.

2 light red. Also known as shallow drops, red with gray. The international abbreviation is S(Sijver). The whole body is reddish brown with gray, which is rare.

3 red stare blankly. Also known as red edge, red wheel, sauce wave, red stripe, red bar and purple road. The international abbreviation is R C (red grid). The whole body is light chestnut. It is slightly gray, and there are two deep chestnut on its wings.

4 and a half red. Also called semi-purple.

(4) White

Also known as white shell silver. The international abbreviation is W (white). The whole body is pure white feathers. Another kind of white stare blankly, also known as white wheel. Black stripes and white, black tail and white.

(5) Raindrops

Also known as hemp, hemp back, speckles, speckles, blue plaid spots and fish scales. The international abbreviation is B.C. (Bevecek). The whole body is gray, the wings have black stripes, the tail feathers are black, and the shape is like raindrops falling on the ash pile.

1. Deep raindrops. Also known as black raindrops, ink raindrops, black hemp, black spots and black fish scales.

(2) raindrops. That is, raindrops in China.

3 shallow raindrops. Also known as light raindrops, light spots, heavy raindrops, fish scales and hemp ash.

Four red raindrops. Also known as crimson spots, purple spots, crimson raindrops and red fish scales.

(6) Flowers

Also known as some white flowers, Lahua flowers, epilepsy flowers, flower necks, refutes and stars. The international abbreviation is M(Mozie). Mix some white feathers between gray, black or discolored feathers. Kirin flower, magpie flower and iris flower (vest) also belong to this category.

In addition to the above six feather colors, there are additional feather colors such as flower head (with white feather on the head), white stripe (with one or several white feathers on the wing strip), broken waist (with a white feather on the waist) and leaking bottom (with a white feather of different sizes between the anus), such as white stripe gray, black flower head, crimson broken waist and leaking rain (China carrier pigeon No.6).
