The legend of celebrating the Eight Immortals' Birthday began in the Yuan Dynasty and spread in Youyou in the Northern Song Dynasty and Gaopu in Xinzhou, Shanxi Province. There is a Tanghuang Temple built in Yuan Dynasty in Youyou Village. Every dog day, the villagers send the gods to the stalactite cave in Qifeng Mountain for the summer, and then bring them back to the temple on September 15th of the lunar calendar. Send gods to worship, hold temple fairs and sing operas for 3 days. Pray for rain in dry years, and when you come out of the cave, you must "jump out of the club" and perform "Eight Immortals' Birthday".

The Eight Immortals' Birthday Dance shows the story of eight-hole immortals going to Yaochi to celebrate the birthday of Antarctic immortals. There are reports, roll calls, tea picking, drunkenness and other plots. There are 22 performers, the main characters are Zhuangzi, Zhuangzi, the Eight Immortals and the Antarctic Fairy. Behind every character is an attendant with a parasol.
Singing and dancing during the performance are relatively simple and free. The main maps are "Grand Swirl" and "Snake Plate with Nine Eggs". The lyrics are 3 1 1 sentence, and the tunes are [incense array], [four sentences], [roll call], [tea picking] and [drunkenness]. There is no string accompaniment, only drums, cymbals and cymbals are playing simple drums.
