Is the mocha pot brewed with espresso?
Mocha pots don't make espresso. Although the coffee brewed in mocha pot has a strong taste and sometimes even oil appears, it is different from the espresso we know today. The extraction rate of coffee brewed in mocha pot is similar to that of espresso, but the extraction pressure is quite different. The standard pressure of modern espresso machine is at least 9 bar, while the pressure of mocha coffee pot is about 1.5 bar.

Working principle of mocha pot

Mocha pot is octagonal, made of aluminum, and rubber handle is used for heat insulation. The equipment has three main parts: the bottom container is used to hold hot water, the middle metal filter is used to hold coffee powder, and the top container is used to hold the extracted coffee liquid.

When making coffee, fill the lower pot container with hot water, then install a metal filter on the lower pot and fill it with coffee powder, tighten the upper pot, and finally put the whole mocha pot on the heating appliance. When water boils, steam is generated, and the pressure in the lower pot increases, forcing the hot water in the lower pot to pass through the coffee powder from the middle, and then pushing the hot water into the upper pot from the conduit running through the upper and lower pots.
