Lugano's Food Culture
Lugano has many places to eat out. Eating out means eating fast food first, such as hamburgers, fish and chips, then going to the cafeteria and what Americans call family restaurants, where you can see the recipes of family cooking, and finally going to a very luxurious (expensive) restaurant, a place just to have an "experience".

In Lugano, food is more expensive, at least compared with most European countries, especially the United States. If you go to a fast food restaurant and ask for a hamburger, a soft drink and a cup of coffee, you have to spend 10 Swiss francs. In family restaurants, an ordinary dish costs 15-50CHF, while the cafeteria costs a little less. In more desirable restaurants, you can only buy one bottle of wine even if you spend 1000 Swiss francs.

Ordinary recipes include not only all kinds of pasta, potato chips with different eating methods, vegetables, meat (veal, beef, pork, chicken and even horse meat), fish (mainly fresh fish), but also seafood. Vegetarian recipes are very popular in recent years, and most restaurants offer at least one vegetarian recipe as the main course. Besides, salads are also very popular. Sweets are the most important part of the diet. It includes cheese, more cakes and biscuits of various flavors.
