The west Indian manatee (scientific name: Trichechus manatus) is a very special animal among marine mammals. Scientists have identified two subspecies, namely, the Florida manatee (Trichechus manatus latirostris) located on the southeast coast of the United States. Located in the Greater Antilles, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic coast of Central and South America.
