1. George R. Martin's Fire and Ice.
Series complete: incomplete
Plan seven books. Four volumes have been published. The fifth volume was published on 20 1 1 (it should be intended to cooperate with the publication of TV series).
-A brilliant series of books starting with The Throne Game. I have nothing to say except reading. As we all know, the best fantasy series ever. Martin writes brilliantly, skillfully compiling complex plots into a harsh and even cruel world, which is completely filled with gray characters, rather than traditional black and white. This is a big chess game across the European continent. The chess pieces are kings, illegitimate children, knights, wizards, women and children. The uniqueness of this series lies in Martin's interest in knives and axes of important people. That's right. No one is safe under the author's lasso. Although the main characters alternate, the plot line continues to be stronger. Are you tired of walking through flames unscathed, falling from 100 feet without any damage, and resisting the protagonist of superhuman creatures with the same strength as tickling your other hand? Then this series will be your choice. The completely unpredictable plot makes you experience a pleasant experience. Do you dare to predict winners and losers? If you haven't read this series, go to your local library or bookstore to look for it.
Similar recommendation: If you like Martin's Fire and Ice, you can try Greg Case's The King of Roses, the first part of his unfinished trilogy. There are wonderful descriptions, harsh realism and attractive plots. You can also watch Darkness Coming by R Scott Buck, which is characterized by excellent writing, unique and fascinating plot, and the harsh realism shown by Martin.
2. Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series
Series complete: incomplete.
The whole series 13 volumes are planned. Twelve volumes have been published, plus a prequel.
The wheel of time flies, generations cycle, and dusty memories become legends. The legend is dim and hidden into myth. When the era of rebirth returns, the myth has long been forgotten. The third era, the era of prophecy, the world and time are turbulent. Past, future, present, or has come in the dark.
I dare say seriously that Jordan is the king of fantasy, if not in the complexity of the plot, but also in the total number of pages. This monster fantasy series spans 13 books (each with at least 700 pages). In September, 2004, he had completed 10 of the 13 plans. There is an advertisement on the cover of Jordan's book saying, "Jordan has come to rule the world revealed by Tolkien." This example is not an exaggeration. If you think Tolkien is complicated, baby, you haven't seen the world yet. Jordan is a skillful writer who can inject the tension of drama into any aspect of his world. Lots of political intrigues, power struggles, sexual struggles, a fully considered magic system (probably the best of all fantasy novel), a world depicted by countless details and outstanding people. There is a reason why Jordan became the number one fantasy seller. He is one of my favorite authors, and I bet if you try him, you will feel the same way. A word of advice: Many readers are bored and annoyed by Jordan's procrastination. His first four books are full of wit, but after the seventh book, he began to verbose, the most famous of which are his last two books (Volume 9 and Volume 10). This series is not over yet, so if you start reading, you'd better realize that you have to wait for the remaining two books. If you like Tolkien, you will probably like Jordan.
Similar recommendation: ·R·R· and ice in George Raymond Richard Martin. He is a large-scale epic fantasy work similar to Jordan's Wheel of Time (not that long, of course), and is generally placed in the highest position, which is the model that all other fantasy books try to achieve. Do you think the dragon gun is a good book? Try Martin and feel what a fantasy book should be like. If you like fantasy, you should read Martin consciously. He is a masterpiece among masterpieces. You can also watch The Doors of Death written by Tracy Sekmen and Margaret Weiss. A single seven-book legend is reminiscent of Jordan's style, full of magic, tension and action, but unique enough not to become a cliche kick-off group. There is also Excalibur of the Sun by Michael West, another huge fantasy epic legend similar to Jordan's Wheel of Time. In any case, West's writing style is the opposite of Jordan's. He is more delicate and, of course, often dull. If you are an action monster, Excalibur Sun is a little slow. You can also look at Roumund Effeist's The Magician. His writing style and preferences are similar to Jordan's (full of action and magic).
3. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
Series Complete: Completed.
Three books.
-Do I need to say it? The father of modern fantasy, the re-creation of English mythology, is a peak of English literature. The Lord of the Rings is not only a fantasy, but also a myth and historical novel, so real and fascinating. It can be read as "reality". Peter Jackson's films capture the images in the book with amazing clarity-at the same time, the original conveys a different but equally satisfying experience.
Similar recommendation: Sean Russell's Swan Wars trilogy. Russell's writing is warm and beautiful, with poetic form. Magic retains a mysterious and rare feeling (just like The Lord of the Rings), and his world is full of secrets and miracles. The other is ted Wilhemlms's Memories, Sorrow and Thorns, which is very similar to The Lord of the Rings, but it is original anyway. Although Williams is often wordy, he is still a master of language. Tolkien's magical world structure is widely praised, although his characterization is often criticized. Robert Jordan is another writer with the same epic thread as Tolkien. I think his characters are much better than Tolkien's. Like the great epic? Like to improve the magic system of architecture? Like political intrigue? Like sexual entanglement? Like the end of the world? Then Jordan must study. His Wheel of Time is a magnificent fantasy epic that will attract you. Just be careful to make sure there is enough time at the beginning.
4. The Kingdom of Thorns and Bones, by Greg Keyes
Series complete: incomplete.
Plan three books. Two volumes have been published so far.
One: the king of roses
Second: the prince of terror
Last year, Keith shocked the fantasy world with his excellent serious fantasy novel The King of Roses. This guy is a master of English. His writing is wise and beautiful, just like Oscar Wilde who collaborated with J.R.R Tolkien. His plot is tortuous and there are many interesting characters (the dialogue is wonderful and often interesting). His world is bleak-though not as good as Martin's. Keith absorbed the old fantasy routine and gave it new content. I can't fully recommend this series.
Similar recommendation: If you like Greg Keyes' The King of Roses. Try Scott Beck's Darkness Has Arrived, which is characterized by excellent writing, unique and charming plot, and Martin's harsh realism. You can also watch Martin's Fire and Ice and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time.
☆ 5. R. Scott Buck's "Darkness has Come"
Series complete: incomplete.
Plan three books. Two books have been published so far.
One: The darkness that has come.
Second: Prophet warrior
In a world full of fanatical religious believers, Matt Haller, the spiritual leader of the mysterious Thousand Temples, declared war on pagans. Ikul Cambas, a military genius and nephew of Emperor Nassau, started a war, hoping to conquer the known world under his emperor's rule ... with his own name. Dusas Archie Amian, a spy and wizard of the northern wizard clan, was tortured by the apparition of the apocalypse, looking for the savior of the infinite and the world. Anasulipor Kohus, the heir of the Northern Kingdom-their remains are now hidden in the depths of the North, and now they are barren, just the residence of inhuman creatures-has a complete special talent for war and the ability to manipulate the mind through subtle words and expressions. He gradually bound all men and women, emperors and slaves for his ulterior motives. However, the fate of mankind-even great men-will be doomed. In the depths of the north, the forgotten non-God's arm is waving again, and his slaves will ravage human land again.
The first novel Darkness Coming by Canadian novelist Barker is excellent, which is characterized by first-class description, dark plot and epic lines like Steven Eriksson. This story will make you tighter than a vice. His second book, The Warrior Prophet, continues the incredible high standard of the first book. There is no doubt that Buck has proved himself to be a top fantasy writer.
Similar recommendation: The darkness in the huge scene reminds us of Steven Eriksson's Soul of Maraz, although the characters are not gray and the story is more compact. Another choice is George ·RR· Martin's The Game of the Throne, a magnificent epic and a cruel reality.
☆6. Kate Illiott's "crown of stars" legend
Series complete: incomplete.
Plan six books. Five books have been published so far.
-the first book is the dragon of kings. Complex politics, elaborate magic system, collision between belief and secular power, an inevitable disaster is imminent, long-lost creatures walk on the earth again, great characterization ... Can you ask for more from a fantasy legend? Plot? Good enough for you to read.
Similar recommendation: ted williams's Memories, Sorrow and the Legend of Thorns. Williams beautifully reconstructed Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings (not a clone, no, there is no supreme The Lord of the Rings), creating a mysterious and magical world. The characterization is first-class.
7. Sean Russell's Swan Wars Trilogy
Series complete: incomplete.
Three books are planned to be published, two of which have been published.
-The first part of the trilogy is One Kingdom. Excellent work. Russell has a gorgeous style. Gorgeous to be more like poetry. His world is full of mystery and beauty. Many times, fantasy books have the problem of excessive magic, but in this case, it soon becomes meaningless-whoever simply masters new power can resist stronger villains, and so on. Russell chose to keep magic mysterious and rare. He never explained how magic works: Martin did it in Fire and Ice and Tolkien did it in The Lord of the Rings. If you want to read a book and make you fall in love with its wonderful, passionate and extreme plot, then choose this trilogy.
Similar recommendation: Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The Swan Wars trilogy and The Lord of the Rings are specious. Both books have the characteristics of low magic, and the beautiful descriptions seem to be half poetry and half novel (although Russell's works are more "modern" and "novel").
8. Patricia A. McLip's trilogy "The Mystery of the Stars"
Series Complete: Completed.
Three books.
-Starting with Hyde the Rider. This trilogy was once everywhere, but it doesn't mean it's not worth reading. This is a classic that any fantasy lover should read, such as The Lord of the Rings. Don't be afraid, these books are not old in any sense (they were all published more than twenty years ago). The stories are fascinating, the characters are vivid and poetic-just like Sean Russell's, these books are not just fantasy.
Similar recommendation: Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. I also recommend Ursula Le Quinn's classic trilogy Earthsea. It also has the same beautiful writing style as Mike Kripke, telling an unforgettable and wonderful story about a teenager's mental journey from a child to a mage. You can also watch Sean Russell's Swan Wars trilogy. The same description is prominent, full of faint sadness, and it is a world full of opportunities. Magic is mysterious and dangerous.
9. Robin Hooper's trilogy Assassin, Lifeboat Merchant and Tea Man.
Series Complete: Completed.
Every trilogy has three books. All these have been published.
Without exception, Hubu is the best character writer. Her role is lifelike, jumping out of the page and entering our minds like a real person. She mercilessly made her character suffer, a terrible disaster. I never thought that the tiger step would have anything to do with the mechanical god (a powerful person or event without foreshadowing in the plot appeared at a critical moment to solve an unsolvable problem). If her protagonist falls into a trap, there is no mysterious air cushion to protect him from falling. No, the protagonist will hurt her leg and even her wrist. Huber also created interesting magic systems and fascinating plots. You will shout and laugh at the fact that her characters have overcome difficulties.
Similar recommendations: Tigana by guy kay and Frey Kay. This book is full of emotion. If you like strong feelings and hubu-style melancholy, you will like Tijana.
☆☆☆10. JV Jones "Sword of the Shadow" series
Series complete: incomplete.
Plan three volumes. Two books have been published.
-Starting with "Black Ice Cave". Cruel, cold fantasy has a ferocious beauty. This incredible trilogy is full of goodwill. The characters are well described. Jones, like Robin Hood and Martin, didn't give her heroes special privileges. This is destined to be a fantasy of swords and shadows. In recent years, Jones has really played her own level, and Sword of the Shadow has become her masterpiece. My only complaint is that it takes too long to publish the next book.
Similar recommendation: Watch george martin's The Throne Game, which tells about a savage country in the world of ice and snow. You can also watch another masterpiece of JV Jones, The Book of Words, a fantastic legend (starting with The Baker's Son).
1 1. Jennifer Fallon's second trilogy
Series Complete: Completed.
Three books. Sell them all.
Brilliant masterpiece! Starting with Slater the lion.
☆12. The vampire Earth by E E Wright
Series complete: incomplete.
I dare say that this fascinating legend will consist of many books. Each one continues the story of Valentine's Day.
This series depicts a dark, apocalyptic future world, ruled by blood-sucking aliens, and human beings exist as food and blood banks. This is no ordinary novel announcement revelation. Knights are very common, almost reminiscent of epic fantasy world. But don't get me wrong, this novel is not limited to one genre, it has elements of horror, fantasy and science fiction. This is a terrible hell, it will stay nervous in the dark, from the time you open the book until three o'clock in the morning to rub your eyes. ...
13. ted williams's Memory, Sorrow and Thorn Series
Series complete: completed
Three books.
Memories, Sorrow and Thorns is the Williams version of The Lord of the Rings. No, as I said before, it's not a clone, and it's very different-for the better, of course. Williams' role-building is first-rate. You can travel with young Simon, from children to adults, from kitchen attendants to heroes. This book has a heavy plot, or it often crawls at the speed of snails. However, this series is an unadorned treasure and a must-read for fantasy fans.
Similar recommendation: Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Another similar book is the Dragon Crown series by Michael A. Staercke Berg, which is characterized by the epic battle between black and white and the battle between good and evil. Ted williams 1 1 will publish a new fantasy epic series called Shadow Play in 10. Based on his famous novels in the past (the previous comments are very optimistic), we can pay attention to shadow play. It will look like a jewel.
☆ 14. Ursula Le Quinn's trilogy The Legend of Earthsea.
Series Complete: Completed.
Three books. After the original trilogy, two more were written, so the whole series is five.
-Starting with the Spirit of the Earth and the Sea. This is an excellent costume drama, surpassing the ordinary mill boy and becoming a wizard to save the world. The description is so wonderful that you want to marvel; The story is also fascinating, and you will never feel that you bought the wrong series-yes, they are worth buying. They are the kind of books that you can read again and again. They are touching, wonderful and occasionally sad. This trilogy is one of the representative works of fantasy literature.
Similar recommendation: Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. I also recommend Philip K. McAlip's wonderful trilogy The Mystery of the Stars, which has the same style and different development stories. You can also watch Sean Russell's Swan War.
☆ 15. Steven Eriksson's "Soul of Maraz" record.
Complete reading of series: incomplete.
Plan ten books. Five books have been published.
Since Tolkien, fantasy has rarely changed, and it is often maintained in a way reminiscent of Tolkien's original works. Well, I dare say frankly that Eriksson's series is revolutionary. There is no greater fantasy than Soul of Maraz. His legendary story combines military and epic fantasy. Eriksson mixed the epic scenes of Greek mythology, such as The Best George Raymond Richard Martin and The Odyssey, with perfect description, epic plot, cruel reality and charming gray characters. There is one word to describe it: it was born. This is a welcome change, from the usual fantasy clone like Robert Jordan appearing like a fly.
Similar recommendation: george martin's "Fire and Ice" legend has Eriksson's favorite epic scenes and gray characters. Martin's works are smaller in scale, so they are more concentrated and wise in plot. Then there is Scott Buck's Darkness Has Come, a huge epic scene and beautiful description. Then there is Thomas Hanan's masterpiece The Imperial Oath, which is a historical legend. The Roman Empire did not perish, and magic played an important role in it. The Oath of the Empire is an epic with many magical wars. The great war between the two armies (Persia and Rome) is so fierce that you can even hear the shouts of the protagonists.
16. Thomas Hanan's Imperial Oath
Series complete: completed
Four books.
-Change history. In 600 AD, Rome did not fall. In order to attack Persia, the enemy of Constantinople that threatened it, the Eastern Roman Empire would unite with the Western Roman Empire. Characterized by epic battles, beautiful women and powerful magic. The oath of the empire is an epic story, and its magic will make your hair sizzle. There is the epic perspective of Steven Erickson's novels, the controversy like Robert Jordan, and george martin's dramatic reduction of the protagonist. Great!
Similar recommendation: Steven Eriksson's Legend of the Soul of Maraz is as epic as history, avoiding a lot of battles in the Imperial Oath. The dazzling magical battles are also very similar in scale and scope. Hanan's works pay more attention to individuality, while Eriksson looks far away. Another is Michael West's Excalibur of the Sun series, which is also the same scene as The Oath of the Empire (the collision of two different civilizations and the rise of an ancient evil force in the dark conspiring to control the human world ...).
☆ 17. Magic Apprentice and Magic Master, by Roumund E.Fest.
Series complete: completed
Two books.
-Best fantasy classic. It is the pioneering work of the super-popular fantasy writer Lumond E. feaster. This is also his masterpiece. Fast's works pay attention to the extensive use of magic and political tension.
Similar recommendation: Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, Jordan's masterpiece, is full of magic. If you really like The Magician, you can read another book by Festus called Middecke Mia. They all happened in the same world, although most of them are not as high as his first two books, The Apprentice and The Master. The Empire Trilogy, co-authored with Jenny Watts, may be an exception. The Imperial Trilogy is a wonderful work, and I strongly recommend it.
☆ 18. The Sword, the Ring and the Holy Grail trilogy by Deborah Chester
Series complete: completed
Three books.
-elves and dwarves have become the new laughingstock of fantasy novel without originality. Every time I see words like "elf" or "dwarf", I stop. In a word, Chester did some original work. She wrote a trilogy of sword and magic, but unlike Conan, all her characters have their own real feelings and brains, not just simple limbs. The characterization is excellent. Who ever thought that a sword and magical fantasy would have depth? Chester did a good job. Before you start reading, please make sure that you have got all three books, because when you finish reading the first one, you can't wait to continue reading the rest.
Similar recommendation: Jennifer Robertson's Legend of Sword Dancing. And her trilogy Kingdom of Light, which reads like Sword, Ring and Holy Grail (though not very good).
19. The Tyrant and the King by John Mark.
Series complete: completed
Three books.
-Let's start with Nell's lackeys. The great trilogy. The best military fantasy! Kyle's characters are either black or white. Every character, even the supposed "bad guy", is described as a "person" rather than a simple "consumable bad guy". You will stand with them from the heart, even though you may not agree with their behavior. Coupled with moderate action scenes and bizarre plots, this book is a must-read!
Similar recommendation: Chris Ponqu trilogy "The King of Prophecy". If you like Kyle's rejection of black and white characters, check out his other series, such as Eye of God and the sequel Devil's Armor. If you like the military settings in The Tyrant and the King, there is Glenn Cook's Black Mercenary.
20. Rhapsody trilogy by Elizabeth Haydn
Series Complete: Completed.
Three books.
-Good book. Haydn created the real world and you can read it day after day. Its book has a simple romantic feeling (thankfully, there is no bra ripper in it). Some romances have the same theme as epics, and few legends are established conceptually. This book is well written. For Romeo and Juliet, this is a fortune.
21.The Doors of Death by Tracy Sekmen and Margaret Weiss.
Series complete: completed
Seven books.
As you know, I am not a D &;; D lovers of literature, and Weiss and Sekmen spent a lot of energy to write such a book. In any case, this huge epic fantasy story is not like a dragon gun. It is huge and ambitious, and it is well worth reading. I'm glad to have a few weeks to integrate myself into this addictive legend. If you like Robert Jordan and Ray Lumen feaster, then you will also like Doors of Death.
Similar recommendation: Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time. Wizard series.
22. Ang Lee Hearn's Phoenix Legend trilogy
Series complete: completed
First, through the land of the nightingale
Second, the grass in the pillow.
Third, the brilliance of the moon.
This is a fantasy series that begins with crossing the land of the nightingale. This series is one of my favorites. I haven't read such an excellent book for many years. I have read many works, and many of them can be found here. To tell you the truth, I have read too many books, which makes me accustomed to-even when I read fantasy novel-thinking that their quality is poor in advance. Idiot flies like Robert newcomb's The Fifth Witch and Terry Gukende's The Naked Empire are everywhere now.
However, in the piles of rubble, you will occasionally find exceptionally beautiful roses. Crossing the Nightingale Land is such a flower. It is completely different from ordinary mill-born fantasy novel, and even unique.
The story is set in a mysterious Japanese society, although there is no exact history directly involved, only a small amount of magic. This book is excellent, but not in the way of Robert Jordan. Perhaps the best way to describe it is a recipe: take the solemn background of a shogunate, mix the cold assassin elements of the protagonist's death, soak it in the mysterious Eric nast ninja, and then add complex plots, outstanding characters, sad suits and romantic sketches, and then you will get one of the best stories I think.
If you have read Fire and Ice 15 times, read Wheel of Time more than Nelly Wei, and even consumed the novel "Tiger Step", then choose this book, it won't let you down.
This is a great epic about love, betrayal, loyalty, magic and hard revenge. It's so excellent that you can't help turning over the cover. I strongly recommend you to see it.
Similar recommendation: If you like the martial arts theme, or are fascinated by the charm of the Far East, read Brothers by Sean Russell, and Kurt Benjamin's Oriental epic Fantasy, a wheel of time that takes place in China.
23. Jennifer Robertson's sword dancer
Complete reading of the series: completed
Six books.
-Magic works. Wit, humor, action scenes and romance, these books are worth anyone's time The interaction and constant opposition between the two protagonists are excellent.
Similar recommendation: Deborah Chester's trilogy "Sword, Ring and Holy Grail". Similar to the legend of sword dancing, Chester's sword and magic trilogy has rich characterization.
☆ 24 JV Jones "Quotations"
Series complete: completed
Three books
-Excellent work, though not as good as her latest work Sword of the Shadow. A collection of epic fantasy, heroic fantasy, sword fantasy in one product. A humble baker's apprentice discovered that he had an extremely rare magical talent. It sounds like a standard "epic fantasy clone", but Jones describes her role more clearly than most Demonbane novels, and the core of the story can attract your attention. The rhythm of this book is driven by a lot of actions. Worth reading.
25. Patrick Dini's battle of amphibious chariots
Series complete: completed
Six books
