Food prohibited from being served in primary and secondary school canteens
The Ministry of Education, the General Administration of Market Supervision and the National Health and Wellness Commission have issued a notice that primary and secondary schools and kindergartens are not allowed to sell high-risk foods such as cold meat, raw food, decorated cakes, green beans, fresh day lilies, wild mushrooms and sprouted potatoes.

The notice requires that school food safety concerns students' health and life safety, family happiness and social stability. All localities and schools should strengthen cold chain food safety management to ensure food traceability. The food and raw materials in school canteens should be stored in different areas, away from the wall and the ground, and follow the principle of first in, first out and first use.

The circular also requires all localities to implement health requirements. School canteens should keep the internal and external environment clean, the ground dry, regularly cleaned and disinfected, ventilated for more than 30 minutes after each meal, and promptly remove kitchen waste and garbage classification.
