Luo Hanzhai originated from Zhou Ping Ketan in the Southern Song Dynasty. Volume 2 records: "The merchants turned to the monks again. When they prayed for the danger at sea, they saw them in the air and they were all helped. When they go to Guangzhou to confess, they are called Luo Hanzhai. " I don't know if this is the earliest record of "Luohanzhai" in Guangzhou, but at least it can be said that Luohanzhai should not refer to a specific dish, such as Guangdong vegetarian dish "Dinghu Shangsu", also called "Dinghu Luohanzhai". It can be seen that "Luohanzhai" should be the general name of dishes mixed with mushrooms and fungi. Therefore, people's understanding of this dish is relatively accurate, and this attitude of "following fate" also has something in common with the spirit of Buddhism.
"Lohan Zhai" changed from lent to menu, which reflected the influence of Buddhist culture on folk food culture.
