Culture takes time to accumulate. It takes a long time for a culture to emerge, develop and mature. The longer the accumulation, the deeper the cultural background and the stronger the personality. In the past two decades, a large number of migrants have flooded into Shanghai, which has greatly changed the ethnic structure in Shanghai. These people come from all over the country and have their own regional and cultural personalities. This makes Shanghai's culture in a state of chaos. A rapidly changing society is not conducive to cultural stereotypes. So the so-called "new Shanghai culture" has probably not yet formed. Even if there are some characteristics, it can only be regarded as a social atmosphere, not reaching the level of culture (at least not reaching the level of culture with research value).
Culture must have distinct personality, rich and diverse connotations, and sufficient stability and continuity. The reason why we can't figure out the spiritual core of "new Shanghai culture" is because this "culture" is vague in personality and poor in connotation. It is too early to talk about "new Shanghai culture" at present.
Scholars who study culture often wait for a culture to mature for a period of time (to show its value) before studying it.
